HeaDphone Discussions. (Audiophile and Gaming)

Yes, it's the perfect solution for GSP600's , I'm just saying if they made it almost as powerful as a Magni3 it would be the ultimate audio solution for gamers. I wouldn't mind paying an extra $50. Size isn't a factor given it's a desktop solution.

Yeah I was watching this video yesterday. Want to do more research on this one.

Well, I'm a happy chappy.

Finally decided to pull the trigger on a NFB-11.28 and picked mine up about 30 mins ago from the post office.
R800 customs later (ouch).

Will install drivers and take some pictures later tonight, took around 2 weeks to get here via DHL post. Ordered mine from Magnahifi in the Netherlands, as it was on special.

You're welcome to give it a whirl if you have some time over a weekend. Just drivers required + usb cable.

Just finished installing it.

What a difference. Holy shit.

I'll give more details once I've spent some gaming time with it, but even with the volume cranked sounds are super crisp and clear. Listening to some FLAC's now and man I'm happy I got the upgrade.

Nice! What did you upgrade from?

I was running a Sound Blaster AE-5.

Served me pretty well but this is definitely an upgrade.

Thanks Senshi! I’m far too scared to sample new gear. Upgraded my entire rig over the last few months. DACs, amps, headies [emoji85]

That's a pretty big jump.
When I decided to invest in R2R-11, that's when I noticed the difference.
Man, what an amazing first time. Brought tears to my eyes.

Same here. The R2R-11 was my key to the rabbit hole...the rest is history.

Holy smoke.... gives new meaning to "upgrade". I'm surpised you haven't been brought to tears yet... wait for the right song to hit all those chords on the NFB

This reminds me of when I met and went to @capetownwatches place to have a listen to his setup(s). My god it was my first experience listening to gear that high end, then just before I decide to leave he pulls out the Stax and plays some DSD tunes...

I have not since been able to experience it again nor do I have the budget to come even close.
He ruined me.

He ruined you for the better.
Now you are enlightened.

Some days I am really happy I am tone deaf, otherwise audio setups would have destroyed my finances.

I hope he didn't pull the Graham Slee out... that would have ruined me :)

😮 This? What more than this could you want?!

I was quite overwhelmed at the time tbh, however I don't recall seeing this unit at the time.
Not that model. I think Mr. CPTWatches bought the Solo amp. Maybe he'll jump in and confirm.

Oh my! I somehow excluded myself from the hobby for a while... reading through the last few pages though, I think I should keep to my cave. Some awesome kit going around.

Hi all,
Anyone know where to get comply or dekoni earphone tips locally.
Takealot used to have them but not anymore.

Shipping from amazon costs more than the tips would

It’s the same with walking into a fishing, golfing, bicycle, toy shop.

You end up wanting to spend money like crazy

Snake oil question:unsure:

Got a NuPrime UDSD not too long ago and extremely happy with the purchase. Currently using a random printer usb cable... Budget is tight.... been looking at Audioquest Forest and Wireworld Choma 8...more reviews on the Forest given its age and decided to "go against the grain" and order the Chroma 8...will hopefully get it in the week.

For those that did.... does an "audio usb" cable make a justified difference?

I fully understand the 1's and 0's of data being sent via usb and googled that shit for a while but really intrigued about the overwhelming majority swearing that it does make a difference to the sound.
Setup
I7 6700k
Z170K
2x8gb DDR4 LPX 2400
Superflower 650W 80+ gold
JRiver>NuPrime UDSD>Yamaha A-S501

The UDSD is being used as a DAC only via RCA and if I do use my headphones (Sennheiser HD 200) its via Yamaha A-S501 headphone out.

Had an Asus U7 MKII after my Asus Xonar Essence ST got water damage and while it it did its job it always sounded all over the place compared to Essence ST... The UDSD really put everything into perspective better than both DACS that preceded it.

So does a USB cable make difference?🍿

Snake oil. Absolute snake oil bud.

A cheap usb cable is 100% adequate and functional for a DAC. It transfers data, nothing can be 'lost' with a bad cable, it is either there, or it is not.

Guess I fell for the snake oil... Will give my thoughts on the Chroma 8 when it arrives

Regarding everything in life, if it does not scientifically make any sense, and there is no logical explanation for something, it is most probably bs.

Nooooo! Oh well, you took one for the team. Let us know if it sounds different to you?

Reading through the description though...

"Like all Wireworld USB cables, the noise-absorbing power conductor improves sonic purity. Exceeds official USB high-speed specifications. These flat cables utilize Wireworld’s exclusive Uni-Path conductor geometry, Composilex 3 insulation and noise-absorbing power conductors to improve the fidelity of music and video. The designs were developed through listening tests that compared prototype cables to virtually loss-free direct connections between components"

Like my friend Mr. Poopybutthole always say; "ooh wee"

I can't comment with authority if a USB cable makes a difference or not, but what I can say is that PC as a source is not the cleanest piece of tech on the planet. I added a Matrix X-SPDIF 2 into my chain. I was a half-believer in cleaning/reclocking etc. before the X-SPDIF 2.. but my god it's an absolutely brilliant piece of kit. I run USB from PC to the X-SPDIF 2 and then optical to my DAC (gonna mess around with coax as well pretty soon).

If you're happy with your DAC/amp and headies setup, I can't recommend the X-SPDIF 2 strongly enough. It improves every aspect of the listening experience. Bass is tighter, mids richer, highs sparkle like they're high on life, and the improved stage and detail retrieval is remarkable.
