HeaDphone Discussions. (Audiophile and Gaming)

Those don't just look dirty though, something else seems to be going wrong with those pads. And why would you trust an owner to look after his stuff well if he takes a pic like that?
Looked at the pics on my phone so it kinda looked okay.
Will check again once I am on my desktop.

And there goes my interest in 2nd-hand headphones.

(Unless I send them through the Panda's cleaning service first)
The finest pad cleaning service.

Hahah! Wish I could find some remedy for those microscratches on the X2 you have atm. But I could not think of anything gentle enough that won't cause more damage than what is already there.

Would be awesome to give those a proper sanding one day, and remove the coating on the metal parts completely. Might be visually better than the coating with the tiny scratches. The pads needed the cleaning I gave them though.

Its one of the very few hobbies where you can get your money back in the second hand market. Good headphones hold their value for years and years. Look how much you can still sell a set of HD650's for as an example. Definitely one of the hobbies where you can buy something, try it, and flog it when you are done. I've probably owned near 20 sets of headphones during the past 2 years and not much is gone in terms of money.

You were right though. Most days they barely bother me anymore.
It's just sit down in front of PC and put them on even if I don't intend to listen to to/watch/play anything just yet. And then later take them off and plonk them back on the desk. Many days I don't even see the sides with the scratches.

Though there are still some days where If I could put up to 6K down on a freshly sealed pair without any scratches, untouched by anyone but me and the machine that dropped them in the box, I totally would, and flog these in a heartbeat.

I feel the same way about so many second hand stuff that I own, where the initial owner was just that little bit more negligent than I would've liked.

Sooo I tried these 6XX's. INSTANT LOVE. No adjustment period, no tweaking, no finding the right song, just spoke to me instantly. It's exactly what I hoped for, the emphasis is exactly where I want it and I know this is said way too much about the 650 but I'll say it anyway, so smooooth :ROFLMAO: . Bass is great and very present when the song asks for it, can't see anyone wanting more. The mids are just awesome and the highs aren't burrowing into my skull as soon as I try increase the volume. Just straight up enjoyable listening. Better imaging and wider soundstage than my other headies that's for sure. I mean I could go on for a while but I'm sure you guys know what I mean.

Any of you gents know where I can get a 4pin XLR male to 3.5mm female?

Eish, had this been 1 month earlier I wouldn't have gone with the SHP9500's, still stuck at AGS... :/
You could just sell the shps my man. Its amazing headies my man. Lol

Now I'm getting X2 FOMO even though I've got 3 headiest and 2 of them only recently. It's like there's always a gap :)

Might sell the DT990s. They're similar enough to the M1060s but yet there is still something to them that's different and I can't describe. They're a little more closed, and because I'm on the low volume end of the equal loudness curve the treble is actually just right.

Haha I don't even have them yet (stupid customs/AGS). Naah, I need to tone it down. Just one more amp/dac then I really, really need to stop... for a while 😁

I've learned my lesson after being in this thread for a while. My X2s are not going anywhere. Even if I move far away to the lands of headphones with 4 numbers/number letter combinations they'll be staying with me. Because as soon as I decide I've moved on I'll need them again like all of you.

Clearly the lesson here is that there is ALWAYS room for an X2.

Congrats! The 6xx is lovely. My 650 (same as 6xx) has been my go to set since the day I got it. Love all my headphones but I keep coming home to my 650. Light and super comfy. Sweet sounds. Zero fatigue. Doesn’t ask me to make tea or take the rubbish out. Just a great headphone with a beautiful warm signature that is perfect o’clock north of neutral.

I find 3 headies perfect. In fact 2 would be better, but there’s space for 3 for sure. For me it’s the reliable wife (650), the hot fantasy gal (LCD2), and the tactless bitch that says it like it is (800S). My plan is to keep it at 3. If something wants to come in, then something must go.

I wish I knew what was different between the DT990 and M1060. It's like I know there's a difference but I can't describe it. Bright Vs Warm is easier to describe, it's not that.

Gonna stick my R2R11 on sale this evening. Price will be R5k. I still consider it a unicorn and an excellent stepping stone on an audio journey. Not needed since the Deckard arrived, otherwise wouldn’t be selling it.
Sale thread is up. Seems it may be on hold for a mystery member and contributor to this thread. Edit: Awaiting 100% confirmation from him. Edit 2: OHPTU Edit3: Back up for sale - buyer pulled out.

So I decided to clean the 6XX earpads last night. No offense to Deviation the headphones were in awesome condition (Look brand new) and definitely not dirty just thought I'd give them a refresh as the new owner. Warm water mixed with some washing powder worked a treat. Left them in the oven on low heat with the fan function on to dry and now they're minty fresh and nice and clean and fluffy haha.

In other news, I'm getting an R2R :ROFLMAO:
