Hi all,

Need advice on the topic.

I work for a medium size business (40ish employees) but its a startup and growing moer fast. I'm going to do all the IT related stuff and need to know about business licenses, Office 2019 specific.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

I would 1,000,000,000 % not use those cheap keys in an enterprise. The penalties for failing a Microsoft audit are crazy (and yes, they do spot audits in SA).

Agreed hence why I'm trying to find someone to assist with a proper volume license.

the best would be to contact someone to get a proper EA (enterprise agreement) set up. yeah, its expensive - EAs are the reason Microsoft don't care that much about giving win10 free to lure people into upgrading. and why they don't go that hard trying to stamp out the cheap licenses. yes, they would know about licenses being sold on the cheap. but if someone in your buddy's org splits and say "we bought licences on the cheap"

a Microsoft seat license not only windows and office, but also include CALs - Client Access Licenses. this allows you to access all the servers in your organisation. alternatively you will have to buy your server software for each server, as well as CALs for every client that may potentially access each server. I dont know what is the easiest to figure out all that stuff, and whats the cheapest, while trying to be compliant or try to. If you have an EA, microsoft is much more lenient at annual true up time if you are over your licences.

i might be horribly wrong, so the best way would be to get a proper assessment done.

They did a spot check on us, fortunately we had a Office 365 Business Subscription from them. They were apparently checking our other pc's if we were using non enterprise Office or Windows keys. Their support is spot on, never waited for more than a couple of minutes. Helped me with deploying on multiple PC's at once when I ran into issues
