Time for some hype and discussion about the new Ada Lovelace GPUs, they sound insane from what some well-known leakers are saying.

4090 AD102, 24Gb GDDR6X 21Gbps, 600W - estimated at around 90-100TFLOPS and over 2.2x the performance of the RTX3090Ti.
4080 AD103, 16Gb GDDR6X, 450W.
4070 AD104, 12Gb GDDR6, 300W.

Time to start saving and making sure those PSUs are up to the task! :D

Will be very fucking keen to get my hands on a founders 4080.

Some extra performance for many extra monies. How exciting.

Possibly one of the biggest performance leaps between generations in a long time.
Looking at old Techpowerup reviews, 780Ti -> 1080 was only 2x gaming perf at 1440p and that took 2 generations.

Let's just wait until we have actual benchmark results before anything. It may be all that, but also it probably won't.

Not keen on that power consumption. heck I'm not even happy with my 3080 power consumption. In our SA weather this card happily warms up my decently sized office. Dont want to imagine an AIB 4080 pushing 500 watts.

You and a ton of other people are misreading the total power draw as actual performance.

Look at how the 3090 ti increased power draw over the 3090 for how much performance increase?

That last few performance points are the hardest to get.

It's probably going to be a standard performance uplift in performance with a fairly large bump in power usage if all of the very speculative posts are to be believed. It's not going to make the 3090 Ti look like a joke.

So what is the standard performance uplift ?

Just want to know, so when the 4090 is on average 2x the performance of the 3090 at 4K I can tag you and tell you you were wrong (or you can do the same to me if I'm wrong) :p

New rumours, seems like we might find out sooner rather than later.

450W lol, yeah and the peak draw, is that going to spike as hard as the 30 series up to double their average power draw? AIB models will easily go to 500w if not 600w at the premium versions.

The x2 has been spread as the top end of the gain over the 90 in Ras only but still to early to get hyped for something that's going to be scalped harder than new special edition yeezys.

Complaining about high power consumption on the fastest card is like complaining about a LaFerrari using 25L per 100km.

Don't worry, they'll still have a RTX4070 aka VW Polo for those on a budget.

And they will mine like beasts, and will all be sold out, and GPU prices will go through the roof again :)
looking forward to it

Not quite, complaining because Nvidia doesn't know how to implement protection features properly. i.e getting blown-up by New World

lol, nice

Seems fair.

Standard performance up lift is the average performance difference between each gen of card going back 7 or so years.

It’ll be closer to 15% rather than 100%.

3080Ti with the Nicehas LHR Unlock at 120 MH/s only makes about R40-50 profit a day according to Nicehash.

Mining and Crypto is in a slump now so it's actually going to be a great time for prices.

By all accounts this is supposed to be a larger-than-normal uplift in performance. So I'd expect more like 30-50%. But not 2X. I guess we shall see, but I can't see it happening.

The other thing to consider is performance per watt. Higher performance is great, but 900W or whatever it could be is just insane.

In b4 Eskom bans their import and sale. xD
