Seller: @Nokoff
Buyer: @Grizzle
Description of Bad Deal:

PS. If my formatting looks shit, let me know and I will edit the post, just thought the sequential listing of steps makes it easier to follow

  1. On 2021-07-29 I bought 12 drives from @Nokoff after I first confirmed with him about drive health tests.
  2. I asked for health reports to see estimated lifetime remaining on each drive then he said he already tested them all, and he won't do it again (this was about a week or 2 before I purchased - since I didn't like his response and I can actually get drives from someone more reputable for cheaper, I decided to leave it at that)
  3. After I spoke to someone else, they didn't have drives, my own 4TB went bad coincidentally, so I contacted @Nokoff again
  4. Anyway, he stated that, since everything he has is 100%, if anything goes wrong within a month or 2 he will either replace or refund me for the drive(s)
  5. This prompted me to go ahead and take some drives from him
  6. We negotiate whether I will ship or pay for delivery, and he asks R200 for delivery so I pay him the R200
  7. After he dropped off the drives, I tested each drive and out of 12 drives, 4 of them are bad. 1 drive has 100 days remaining (I can't use this in a RAID array with other drives he sold with 500 odd days remaining); another drive is 0%; another 99%; and the last one 87%
  8. I reckon okay, it's fine let me just tell the guy and he can replace them while he's close-by still
  9. He asks for screenshots and tests etc - I do them
  10. He says after all this, that he will get back to me that evening after he gets word from his supplier
  11. I stated that, if he has troubles with the swap out with his supplier, I would rather take the refund he also offered me before I purchased
  12. Says he will keep me in the loop
  13. On the 30th, after no keeping me in the loop the day before, I said that if it's easier, just refund me instead for 4 drives (using his bundle price per drive for 12, not even full price)
  14. He then says his supplier will get back to him the same day and that he won't refund me whilst the drives are in my possession - I need to go meet him in Kempton and give his drives back
  15. So I remind him that he said he tested all drives as 100%, and that I paid him, not his supplier for drives. Also, I paid him R200 to drop off drives that are apparently 100% so it should be his onus to come get his drives by me and either refund or replace with 100% drives - as we agreed upon
  16. That's where he says "If that's going to be your attitude then you can sort it out on your own" - In my eyes, I can't do anything so I see this as his way of saying he will not pay me back or replace the drives
  17. I started proceedings of reporting for fraud with bank. I was supposed to go to SAPS, but I decided it may be too drastic, and he happened to respond again with a change of heart (well that's what it seemed like)
  18. His response states that he has an agreement with his supplier to swap out faulty drives, so he can't force the supplier to respond sooner
  19. I commend him for finally keeping me in the loop which is all I really wanted
  20. That evening he (@Nokoff ) again says he's still to hear from supplier and will keep me in the loop
  21. Following day @Nokoff says that the drives will come Tuesday
  22. He asks if I can send his drives back with TCG - I say as long as he can cover the shipping then sure
  23. I almost booked it, but it feels fishy since I'm sending drives back to a guy that pulled a stunt before, and he still didn't even pay me for the shipping, plus he's not answering his call, so I don't book the shipping
  24. He gets back yesterday and again requests I meet him in Kempton which I can't, so I explain to him why I always pay for shipping or delivery since I don't have a car
  25. He is quiet, so in my opinion this is back and forth becoming too difficult, let me rather opt for his option of refund - I ask for the refund for the 4 drives and he can collect or he can book collection for the 4 drives (or pay me to book the shipping)
  26. I also tell him I was supposed to lay a charge due to his outburst a few days before (where he told me to sort it out myself - how should I do that? Basically a "f* you, I won't pay you back"), but decided against it but if he doesn't fulfill his part I will follow through with SAPS and my bank
  27. He then decides it's time to respond saying I'm being unreasonable, I don't have a leg to stand on, I should get lost - take my threats somewhere else blahblah
  28. I say I will post the update on Carbonite and maybe he can respond once a mod has a look at the case
  29. Since then he blocks me on WhatsApp and here we are
I don't think it's unreasonable if someone says they will do something and tells you to sort it out yourself (how must I pay myself via his bank app? WTF, it's basically a proper "f* you and your money, I ain't paying you shit")

Anyway, hopefully before I have to go to SAPS and bank, this @Nokoff can stick to his word, pay me my money back and come collect his drives or book shipping for his drives, I don't even want to do it on his behalf anymore, he seems proper dodgy, he can book it himself

Side note, here is where he stated he will refund for drives (he also said he can swap out drives in other places but this part is what he claims he didn't say):

For the record, I only agreed to speak to my supplier to arrange that we swap out the drives for you as that is my agreement with them. Not to refund them.

Looks like he was using them for Chia:unsure:
Database drives, so I doubt it

You don't sommer find HP and Dell drives just like that - businesses buy them

*But you never know ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ - just bear in mind, farming drives (where you store the plots) aren't really that badly affected - the plotting drive (usually an SSD) is the one that suffers

I hear you but if you check his one screenshot you'll see both his SSD's are called Plotter so yeah

Could just be reseting the S.M.A.R.T. info and once you start storing data on it the health drops to what it really is
