Hi All
Season's Greetings to the community. I would like to bounce around some comments as I am not sure what happened or what could have happened regarding the following:
When I came from holiday (4 days ago) I switched on my computer and within a minute after entering windows the computer screen went black and the screen said "no input received". The backlighting on the keyboard and mouse also went dead. I force restarted the pc with the power button and within a minute it happened again. I then plugged everything out of the pc and after touching the back of the chassis got a static shock. I then reattached everything and powered it on and it has been working fine ever since.
A few things to note:
The pc was plugged out of a power source while I was away on holiday and is plugged out during load shedding. During usage time it is plugged into a 2kva UPS.
I googled possible static build-up/discharge from computers but most forums says there is no such thing, and any static will simply fry the motherboard.
Does anyone have any knowledge on what could have happened and whether there might be damage to the pc?
