Nighthawk Pro vs Asus RT-AC88u

I think @Lotus-JPS had both maybe he can give feedback. I can only tel you that he told me.....is that the Nighthawk was better.

For normal use, both is good, check prices and pay. For gaming the Nighthawk has better features to use of the 2 but a lot of nice to have that is not used everyday. I know from my ASUS router they update firmware from time to time because of the never ending attacks of hacking. Nighthawk is a very well known opposition so they should be of the same standard. Both is good but depends on the use of it.

What was the decision here? I am in the exact same boat and need to choose? Nice specials running on both. R 3799 for the Asus and R 3999 for the Netgear... what to do....

I went for the RT-AC5300 in the end. All specs are the same except it has a second 5ghz radio.
Pretty happy with it. The only reason I went with Asus is because it had more positive reviews than the night hawk.

This is a great router, with good speeds and stability. It states this is for large homes, and this is true as this router has double the reach of my previous router on the 2.4GHZ Band , and has the same reach on the 5GHZ band as the previous router had on the 2.4GHZ band. If you can, this router would be more ideal to put in the center of your house. In my case the router is on the one side of the house on the second floor , and thus I still need a repeater in my house to reach the very last room of the house. other wise i'm happy , the Asus RT-AC88 will do exactly the same job, I just liked this router for the 2 5GHZ bands. (as they both have the exact same specs except 2 vs 3 radios)

Personally, I would definitely go for the ASUS option.

All of the ASUS routers come with a free router app with loads of features part of it, and they have another feature called
AiProtection, which is essentially commercial-grade home network security.

Why don't you get a USG and a unifi AP? It'll cost the same but at least you get to run prosumer grade hardware.
