So it has finally come to that time again where I can upgrade, only been upgrading my GPU in the last few years.

Current setup: Asus Sabertooth P67 B3, Intel i7 2600K, Zotac Amp Extreme 1080TI, 16gb RAM 1866mhz, 3 x SSD , Coolermaster 750watt Bronze PSU.

I'm basically looking to just upgrade the Motherboard, CPU, RAM and maybe NVME drive and PSU. I was maybe thinking of going AMD but been an Intel/Nvidia fan boy so I will probably be sticking to that unless there is just a really good reason going for AMD (not the price reason only).

I have been looking around for upgrade kits, I like buying from Wootware, Evetech, etc. I have seen a lot of complaints lately on Evetechs side. They do however make it easy for me to purchase with their upgrade kits. I don't have any issues with my PSU so will I need to replace the 750 watt? Only reason I was considering replacing is because it is 7 years old. Also will I notice a difference from NVME drive compared to my standard 850 Evo (dumb question to some but I would like to know how much I would notice it).

This is what I have in mind for when I want to upgrade next week:

Option 1

or this

similar, but I will have to add another stick of RAM

Any advice welcome.

What do you want to do with it? If you just want to play the odd game but mostly use it for internet and programming, I can’t see the point in upgrading.

Also, that upgrade kit from Evetech pairs an H series motherboard with a Intel K SKU processor. A really pointless combo since the processor needs a Z series motherboard to make use of the unlocked processor.

I’m not a fan of Evetechs upgrade kits for that reason - often a stupid combination of parts is used.

What’s your budget?

1440P gaming with value would see you get an AMD 3600 with your 1080ti or an AMD 5700XT (non reference cooler). 3400mhz CL14 RAM with a B450 Tomahawk.

Intel wise, 9600K with a Z390 Auros Pro and the same RAM as above.

Nvidia option suggests stick with your 1080ti.

If the PSU isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Some come with a 10 year warranty.

Thanks, this is the info I need. My budget is about 10 - 12k. Want it mostly gaming and have a 144hz screen so try to get close to that as possible, hence the upgrade. I think my CPU bottenecks the hell out of my GPU :)

Every time I see an Evetech upgrade kit where a K-equivalent cpu is paired with an H (or anything less than a Z board) i die a little inside.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

Get the screen now and see what the performance is like.

Once you push towards 1440P and 4K gaming, you put less strain on the CPU and more strain on the GPU.

With the 1080ti being a powerhouse, I think you’ll see a small dip in FPS, but your RAM is going to let you down I think.

Your current specs are good for most titles but you’ll definitely have a problem with the more intensive AAA games out there.

If you need to, push your CPU to 5ghz. It’ll help reduce the bottleneck.
