Hi guys,

I ordered a monitor from Wootware to replace my old DELL. It arrived today only for me to find wipe marks on the panel, the same kind of marks you would find on a window after cleaning it with a wet rag.

The box was sealed with a generic "if seal is broken etc etc", no DELL seal. Obviously, excitement levels high, didn't think much of it at the time.

This is surely not right? I have emailed them for a replacement, waiting to hear back.

I would like to know if you have experienced anything like this?

Hi, check the dell support site with the service tag on the back of the monitor. It should show details like date of sale or warranty remaining and this way you can maybe see if it really is 2nd hand:

Warranty till 03 March 2024. So over 3 months into its warranty already if I understand this correctly.

The plot thickens... Use that info when communicating with Wootware and if they get difficult, contact Dell directly. Dell support is pretty good so you should get positive results but give the retailer some time to get back to you first.

Yep, got a reply from them.

Here is part of the reply.

"These monitors have been checked by our Technical and dispatch team as these were the units of stock we had for this monitor which is why there were opened. "

Idk but this seems suspect to me. They seem willing to replace it though. I would prefer to get a DELL sealed monitor (dead pixels and all)

I have had no bad service from them in the past but I would really like to know if anyone has experienced this kind of thing in the past.

You need to find a freaky girlfriend and make her your wife, then you can be happy every part of the day...

Let me quote a Mike and the Mechanics classic on this one (Another cup of coffee):

And he tears the business tags from his old suitcase
As he packs away the pieces of his life
They all love him but they always try to change him
That's what happens when a girl becomes a wife

It doesn't matter who she was before. Something happens when you get married.

Just got a "unopened" replacement after sending back the last "new" monitor and again the screen looks like someone wiped it with a wet rag :|
Can anyone tell me if this is normal?

Depending on the model and what sort of liquid was wiped on the panel, your monitor may have some of it's coating missing.
