I built a pc out of old parts for my girlfriend as her pc decided it was done with life. Unfortunately the PSU also decided that it had enough. I opened it and a capacitor fell out. I could also see burn marks on the pcb. So now I need a new psu to get her up and running... (so I can get back to gaming!)

4GB RAM
8600GT
1x SATA (will maybe add a second)
1x CD-ROM drive
I recon 300W should be enough, what do you guys think? Also, I don't want to spend a lot of money as this is an old build and I have no idea how long the components will last. The CPU + mobo is 11 years old and the 8600gt even older. On the other hand I am sceptical about buying an very cheap psu as I know that could also cause problems. Do I tell her to wait untill I have money to spend on a decent psu or do I go the cheap route and just hope it lasts?
