I got a notice from MTN that its time for my phone "Upgrade" I put it in "" because I really hate this process.
It would be alot easier process if I cared for the latest and greatest tech in phones but I dont,it is merely an appliance to me like a microwave all I want it to do is warm up whatever I put in it (quickly). I dont care if it has settings that allow it to make a complete oven roast it must just do its job of warming my coffee.

Maybe you guys can help me. Currently I have a Samsung A3 2016 version and other than becoming frustratingly slow it does everything I need from it.
The only features that matter to me are as follows: Small size, toughness,CPU and Ram and of course price.
My phone lives on Wifi networks so if I use 150mb of my own data a month its alot.
Im in a workshop most of the day so it needs to be able to put up with that.
Any advice would be appreciated.

We live in a era of glass sandwich.

I have had only good experiences with Xiaomi phones. For the price they are unbeatable

Since it's contract see if you can get the CAT S52
really beautiful rugged phone

Thanks guys Ill take a look at the Xiaomi phones.
any specific models to look at? Just had a quick look at the Redmi9 but it is way too large, rest of the specs are appealing tho

If you want to go with a cheaper phone, I suggest you get a dual layer cover + screen protector.

The Spigen Neo Hybrid comes to mind.

Generally the same day my phone leaves the shop it gets a screen protector and a cover even before it gets a sim card in it.
Knock on wood I haven't broken any of my phones in a few years, but they still live a hard life with me.

Samsung Galaxy A30s with a good case and screen cover is tops IMO.

Relatively cheap and will do everything you need it to. And you can stay in the Samsung family lol
