Haloooo!
So my girlfriend and I recently started looking into some games to play and having played Neverwinter before and being a big fan of MMORPGs I suggested it to her. We have been playing for a little over 6 months new and I must say that this is probably one of the most underrated MMORPG games.
The game has a really comprehensive story line that can swallow you in and have you glued to your chair for hours. Its an all-round perfect game and what I love most about it is that you don't have to pay-to-win. I have never once in my whole time of playing Neverwinter spent a single cent on the game and I have managed to build a pretty boss character by just committing to it. It does take you slightly longer to reach the level of players who pay money but for the first time ever my girlfriend and I are considering buying a VIP subscription to the game. The loot is generally not worth the money because you can pick up fairly great loot just by farming but out of sheer support for what the developers have done I think they deserve my financial support for their game.
Things I love about this game:
1. Really inclusive story line. For those of you who like getting into the story of a game, look no further.
2. Free to play. Okey, so the graphics aren't Monster Hunter: World's level but then again it doesn't cost you R300 to play.
3. You don't have to pay-to-win. It does take slightly longer to reach the level with your characters if you don't spend some moola but it is doable. My Character is boss after only playing for about 6 months and I have never spent a single cent.
4. Really awesome mechanics. Honestly I feel like the guys who developed this game should get an award just for the mechanics of the game. The combat is all-round very fun to play and works really well. Unlike other games, you don't have 20000 abilities covering up your screen which you will probably never use. The visual effects of combat are really good and if you spend some time working out the different abilities and features you get you can build a one in a million character build that works perfectly for you.
5. You don't have to get into the story-line to enjoy the game. The constant dungeons, campaigns and quests are enough to keep the game super interesting.
6. Super fun PVP setup. The PVP in Neverwinter is unmatched by any game I have played so far. There are a few different types of PVP including a map that has an open world PVP, which means you wont have to look over your shoulder everywhere you go and if you are into matching up your build with someone you can go to the open world PVP and try it out. They also have PVP ques which allow you to join a 5v5 PVP skirmish.
7. End game. So the really cool thing about this game is that you will ever run out of anything to do as the developers are constantly adding on new campaigns. Campaigns unlock boons also BTW which give you extra stats increases making you more OP.
8. Doesn't require you to play 25 hours a day. I usually spend about an hour in the evenings and a few hours on the weekends and that's enough to keep my character on par with where I need to be.
9. The community. Much better than the likes of Fortnite and LOL, need I say more?
10. Guilds. There is so much to do including unlocking more boons in your guild and battling other guilds.
Seriously, this list can go on for ever so I'm going to stop there.
Some negative things about the Game:
1. Updates are inconsistent and sometimes take very long.
2. A few bugs in the game. One particular one can cause you to get stuck behind a boulder for example. Luckily all you will have to do is log out and back in but it can be annoying.
3. If you don't belong to a good guild or team up with some regular PVP players, PVP can end up being a real bust as players you get ranked with will undoubtedly bring you down.
4. The monetary system. If anyone ever wondered what happened to Russia's economy, this is a perfect example.
There are a lot of reviews on Youtube based on people's first impressions and you are more than welcome to check them out however I differ with most of the opinions of the people. Most of these "reviewers" expect to compare the game to a R600 game which is just plain stupid. Also a lot of them will attempt to mope over the fact that the game tries to make you spend money on certain things. For vark stakes its a free to play game, even your parents will hopefully kick you out of the house at some point to make a living of your own. Jeez what do you expect these guys to live on? Baked beans?
Anyway I started this thread so I could get together any players who are also into this game or who want to get into this game. You can drop your thoughts on here and if any of you have need any advice on the game I can try to help you out.
If you want to join up with us we play over the weekends and every evening at about 7 to 9ish. Drop me a message in the thread below and we can meet up in the game and kick some serious dragon butt.
If you want to try out the game, follow this link. The game is available on a few platforms including steam.
I will try and write-up a review of the game at some point also and will also add some stats and pictures of my character which is a Scourge Warlock because DPS.
