Hi all,
So I recently purchased an MSI A320M Pro-VD Plus motherboard off a guy on Carb as well as a Ryzen 2200g from a separate seller.
With this being the first AMD bundle I have basically ever used, I didn't realize that the CPU I purchased was a 2nd generation Ryzen and the motherboard BIOS needed to be updated. Silly move on my part.
But basically now I need a 1st-gen CPU to update my BIOS and I only know of one person in my area and he is still about 50km away from me.
However, whilst I was doing my research, I stumbled across this little nugget of interest: AMD will send you a CPU to update your BIOS
This is basically a super basic loan CPU that they pay to be shipped to you which is to be returned in 10 days. I think that this is a FANTASTIC idea. You would follow the RMA process and be able to use your machine quicker than having to source another CPU yourself.
So my question is, is it possible that either @Evetech Support (from whom the motherboard was purchased) or @RebelTech would be able to assist on this? I can obviously follow the online RMA process however I would sooner prefer to see if I can skip a few steps and go directly to the people who could help me faster. Apparently the motherboard and CPU both still have warranty, thankfully.
This machine was intended to be for my work rig and with it down, I am having to rely on my ancient i3-2120 for CAD design and my 3D printing... Yeah...
So I am really looking for a super quick option. If there is anyone local to Hillcrest, Durban who could help me out; I will also be open to that.
