Need some help with deciding on new upgrade CPU (i9/5900x)

Are they registering in Disk partition?
& are they by any chance changed to dynamic partitions?

One of my drives didn't pick up after reinstalling windows and for some reason it changed to a Dynamic partition. Was able to still activate it again & not lose my data as the only other option I could really see was to format (this is to revert it back to a basic partition)

This happens to me when I install Windows on an SSD and have others installed as well. I dunno why but there's some weird bug where it just doesn't load the windows boot manager. Can't describe to you how many headaches I had.

Def connected.

I did get this message though when I clicked random stuff in the bios lol…

But I cant remember in my previous build which SSD and harddrive was connected to a specific sata. Lets say SSD 250GB (windows) to sata1 and SSD to sata2 and normal HD to sata3. Does that make a difference when I just want my pc to start normal like it was or must it be exactly the same as per previous build, I cant remember where they were connected. I dont want to lose my recordings ect and also dont want to format my ssd and reinstall

Ive also noticed in the past that when I disconnected my one ssd (non windows one) that my pc was not able to start, as if there were some windows files on it…. Strange.

Also, I flippen installed the cooler pipes on the wrong side, I wanted it below the cpu so that I can add more RAM in the future[emoji2359] but I cant take it off now.

Also, Ive added the radiator on the top of the case where you can add fans etc and the fans below it with the case in between the fans and radiator, is that wrong or must the fans be directly against the radiator? Temps in bios was around 24 for the cpu…

Case have an opening like below, radiator in top part and fans below it attached to case and radiator. Sorry for these random questions, this is my first water cooler

@Transformer09 It doesn't matter which SATA ports the cables go into, you having some weird behavior.
For the rad, it is most for it to be right up against the fans simply because of air pressure over the fins but how you have it isn't all that bad as there's not much space left. You would just usually have the rad inside the case as well.
Rad placement above the pump block is also just fine.

I take other have already suggested clearing CMOS & BIOS config to see if it randomly changes anything?

They are connected but they are not showing when I go the boot menu

I want my pc to boot from the Ssd my windows is on

I've had the same issue. Windows installed on SSD with HDD connected. When I removed the HDD Windows would not boot.

I just reinstalled Windows on the SSD with the HDD disconnected.

I now realize my post adds no value.

You really should do a clean install of Windows. Never a good thing to reuse the old install when there's such a massive change.

Yeah you are right. Keep getting errors in games and I've had my pc restart a few time with an error blue screen when gaming. Something about memory.

So doing a format and reinstall tomorrow

Let us know how it goes.

Will do. PC is still running well but sometimes I get random restarts. I guess a few files are corrupt.

Loadshedding making it difficult. Will do the format over the weekend. I guess it cant damage any pc parts for now or so I hope.

The NZXT Kraken X73 is doing its job with the i9 10850k

Anyone know if it is possible to get a brand new 3080 for around 22k these days?

Prefer an MSI or Rog strix one but I guess they are out of the price range.

Also going to sell my MSI Gaming X 1070 soon

Have you considered a separate drive in the meantime?
Then you can slowly transfer your files over. Ideally you want to check for any hardware glitches/problems at stock settings on a clean OS to rule out software related issues. If your purchases are recent you could even get a straight DOA swap out instead of going through an RMA process.

I don’t mind doing a new install. So yes going to connect one drive, do an windows install and then see how it goes. Also waiting for my nvme so just going to do a copy on that

I really think its because I had and older system and its been like 2years since Ive had a proper format. So its def some corrupt files and errors due to my upgrade with a new cpu/ram/mb

But yeah will give feedback over the weekend

Did the format earlier cuz I couldnt wait… There is still an issue…

Got 3 blue screens with the following messages over an hour…

PFN list corrupt
Memory management
Kernel Security check failure

I have no idea whats going on since I did a proper install, installed all the latest drivers and programs, updated windows ect…

I did open the pc now and took the ram and gpu out and made sure they are properly installed…

I really do hope everything is working 100% as I dont want to sit with a return problem with faulty stuff…

It can be that there were some cables loose ect but everything is installed correctly.

Will see how it goes until someone can tell me what to do?

If it happens again them Im going to take my pc to my business IT guy to see if he can pick up an issue

Again, this time it was a system service exception error…. Fml I am so over this lol

Step 1: Update to the latest BIOS for your board that isn’t for Rocket Lake. It should be the one dated to December and that supports Re-size BAR.

Step 2: Set your IO and System Agent voltages to 1.25/1.3 respectively (you may need more depending on the quality of your IMC)

Step 3: If you can get to Windows, please grab an app called Taiphoon Burner and check the ICs on your DIMMs. If you have a 32GB kit with 8-Gbit ICs, you’ll be in dual rank and thus require more IO and SA voltages. Leaving them auto on Asus can sometimes bork stuff because they may get set to 1.5-1.6 out of the factory (RIP IMC). If you can, possibly check what the stock IO and System Agent voltages are after enabling XMP. You can check this in HWiNFO64 or by heading to BIOS after memory training.

I am updating my bios now. Also, I changed my bios setting for the RAM to 3600 when I installed the cpu etc but I see the i9 10850k supports up to 2933

Do you think that could be the issue lol?

I wouldn't bother with 11th Gen intel, between your 2 choices there Ryzen 9-5900X will wipe the floor with the Intel 11th gen chip but 12th gen is around the corner.. maybe wait to see those benchmarks

No not at all. I'm at 3800 14-14-14 dual rank on my 10700KF with a crappy IMC. Some of those errors look like the errors a friend of mine saw with a faulty RAM kit. I honestly think that may be the case for you as well. Is it a 16-19-19 kit?

AMD CPUs are way more complex than Intel.
And taken in consideration that you never used AMD before, go Intel.

You really shouldn't give advice, especially when it's this type of vague type of advice not backed by facts.

This is honestly terrible advice.

As @affxct mentioned, you should be able to run much higher than 3600. But there could be other things affecting stability, especially if you manually adjusted the RAM speed without adjusting the supporting settings.

If you manually set the speed to 3600, try to use the XMP profile which should allow the motherboard to set correct voltages and auto configure the rest.

Should XMP be on in the bios? There is a bunch of RAM speed settings and mine is currently on 2933

Just to let you all know, the bios update sorted everything out[emoji1305] No more errors and pc is running beautifully now.

Only little thing that I dont like is I have to start the Asus aura after every shutdown for RGB to sync

Yes its that one. But seems all good now after bios update

Glad it's working now!

You can use CPU-Z to confirm the RAM speed and timings. If your RAM is not running at 3600 16-19-19 then it's probably at 2933 CL18 or CL20 (not sure what the stock latencies might be, or if the motherboard would optimise your timings automatically based on selected speed).

Yes, you can enable XMP in the bios if you want to try and OC the RAM to 3600 with hopefully better timings. If the system is currently stable you've got nothing to lose.

What is XMP? Should I switch it on in the BIOS?

I am going to switch my RAM now to 3600mhz in the bios. Is there anything I should do before I do that or can I just choose the 3600 option from the list?

XMP is how you do it because your RAM won’t train into the XMP timings otherwise.

Ah I guess when I change the ram to 3600 xmp is automatically turned on?
Haha not quite. XMP is a list of timings that accompany the advertised frequency as well as an adjustment on the IO, SA, and VDIMM voltage rails.

If you were running 3600Mbps on your RAM all along and you didn’t do it via XMP, then your VDIMM, IO and SA would’ve all been way too low and thus been the reasons for the BSODs and stuff.
