You can do every single muscle with free weights. not just Biceps. I do hope you are not planning on only doing biceps with free weights and then chest with the machine.
May I ask why?

Because there is tons of exercises which you can do with free weights not just biceps.

For example just got back from the gym now and did shoulders with only free weights. Yes there is machines but free weights are way more concentrated and targets all the small muscles needed for stability and movement etc...

You can always do Calisthenics and achieve similar results.

I would suggest getting someone to assist you. Starting with little knowledge of what to do might do more harm that good in the long run

I do not aim to look like Rambo. I merely want to loose weight and keep some muscle as I age. I am 46 so it is downhill from now on for me.

That is my plan. This is what I did when I was still a member of a gym.

OP , hope you find what you are looking for. Perhaps search for second hand gym equipment in google and search for SA Pages only.

Huge misconception. You are not going to look Like rambo because you eat Rice, drink whey and touch some weights.

Always laugh when people tell me they do not want to get all big and toooo muscular. As if it is that easy

No I know. When I was much younger I tried very hard, but could not get it right, even then

Lol, I see your point. In my case, those years when I was going to the gym regularly my boobs were bigger than those of some of the girls I dated:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Now they are even bigger, just not filled with muscles.

So training your whole body will not make you look like Rambo.
So I would suggest do some more research, get someone to help you before you start buying random stuff/wasting money and getting into a training routine/habit that will do more harm than good. Especially the older you get, the more important it is.

Starting off with the wrong foundation is terrible and will be difficult to unlearn once you think/feel that you are doing it correctly

I don't want to get too muscular.

Reason: lean muscle, strength and fitness.

Eg, pick up 10kg. Not too tough? Nope.
Carry it around for a minute or two. Still not tough? Nope.
Run with it. Probably still not tough.
Now run with it at 15kph for a for a minutes. Bet you its gonna be quite effin tough now.
Now run with that for 2 hours+ ( <-- my point).

One of the cheapest , best things I have ever added for my home work out, was a pull up bar. Made it myself. Took a thick pipe and cut the edges @45 degrees. Welded a base plate on both edges and mounted it in the corner. Thing is very strong. Only problem was the pipe was a bit too thick and tends to chow the hands a bit but after a while and some nice calluses build up all was good.

Pullups / chinups for the win.

Not too sure what your point is tbh.
I was just saying that getting too muscular does not happen over night, weeks or months with weight training.

Consider seeing a pro, and get a workout that will suit your age and needs. If you continue on your merry way, it is highly likely that you will injure yourself. Also because your body changes as you get older, you will need to incorporate different types of exercises to keep your muscles and tendons supple. You will also have to do waaaaaay more stretching and warm-ups before you start training.

Pull up bar with a dip rack are 2 very useful and easy things that you can utilize for lots of different exercises

1. Messing with you
2. Agreeing with you
3. Stating my own scenario

@franman
Thanks for this link you have send to me. The guy selling is very far from me, but he said he is coming my way in November, then he will bring it for me. I could have send you a PM, but wanted to thank you openly!

It's a pleasure bro hope it will do the job. (y) (Flex)

Another option is body weight exercises. Push ups, pull ups, dips and no weight squats would probably help you achieve most of what you want. Well that and eating clean.

true but only works if you can lift your own weight.

except do HIIT cardio.
Curious as to where you see HIIT cardio fit in. Agree a SQUAT rack is not the place, but what do you view as HIIT?

Not really no, many ways to make it easier and have methods of assisting yourself with the exercise.

I can understand if you can't do free weight dips, but the solution is actually simple, sit with your back towards your bed dip that as a beginning. Shit's easy, if you really want to do it you will find a way and eventually build up some strength to do more advanced exercises.
