n00bie's Prodigy build

Noobie, did you kill a ugly guy and wear his body as a suit?

Actually, I slaughtered your mother and wore her face... the rest I'm saving for "recreational" purposes...

So when can I drop off my prodigy? :p
Tell them I want the reject side panels ;)

Right... so with much excitement got home, test fitted the new side panels, and it was an abortion of note... it seems I somehow added an extra 5mm on one section and in turn screwed up the whole story.

So I've remeasured everything tonight and have sent the design off to the steel company again - I reaaaaaaaaally hope they're kind enough to squeeze my job in tomorrow as I'm itching to see how everything looks once put together..

I've already bought my primer, spray and "tape of the gods" as mr. Bill Owen calls it... need to have some perspex windows cut, but will do that once I have the perspex interior panel cut as well.

Will update as soon as I can.

Some pics of my failure....  :(

take a measurement on the length of that new panel

just from looking at that pic (yes measuring that way is difficult), I can kinda see where their mistake came from, if it is the length I am thinking it to be.

they are going to look super hawt when done.

btw, what "tape of the gods" do you use?

Tape of the Gods... I didn't find that exact one, but the one I found is a different brand, but looks exactly the same and is labeled as SUPER strong, up to 40kg.

But check Bill Owen's videos on tape of the gods... quite funny. :p

As for the length of the panels, I measured their panels to the dimensions I sent them, I screwed up, theirs matched my design to a T. :p Meh, so you learn... from now onwards I measure 100times before doing anything.

Made a mock up of my idea for the interior panel, pondering if I must add some sort of design to it with plexi behind it... will play around a bit before sending it off to be laser cut:

ouch, i know how you feel, i have been there far too may times...

Quick teaser - Got some work to do once I get home from work. ;)

milkshakes :p

So I had some fine tuning to do last night with these panels, but they are fitted and they fit really nicely... holes are drilled for the thumb screws and everything lines up nicely.

I just need to have small pieces made up for the front, as the front of the original panels are 1mm thick, but are folded double in front, so I've got some gaps to fill up, then spray.

Sorry for the pics, my phone's battery was low, so no flash, but you get the just of it.

I am going to measure up the interior plate and have that made with the "filler plates" - so hopefully by next week I can finish up the build. ;)

YePsy_ZA - not as much as I love your mother's VJJ...... ;)

My damn photobucket account ran out of bandwidth. :( *Sigh* f'all is free anymore.......

Okay - updated - $29.99 a year isn't so bad compared to redoing a trillion posts.

Hey guys... I finally got the interior panel from the steel place, test fitted last night and it's not bad... think once it's sprayed and everything is put back together it will look really nice. :)

Here is a pic of the test fit:

I should have some time this weekend to paint and hopefully get all the parts ready - then I just need to have the side panel plexi made up and fitted. :D

Will update as soon as I can. :)

I think that, should you be able to get it to power up in that condition, your CPU might over-heat.

This thread lacks updates.... C'mon n00bie

Hey chaps,

Been very busy with work, projects and a build for my one buddy's little brother, but I'm basically 99% done with my build - all I need is to have perspex cut for the side windows - will be having two sets made up one smoked/slightly tinted and one clear as I'm not 100% sure what I want yet.

But here are some pics for you guys:

I painted the interior panel:

A word of caution to anyone that wants to do something like this, you need to have A LOT of patience, this isn't like building a machine where you can quickly correct a connection, etc after you've fitted everything - I had to remove the mobo's I/O plate and undo the mobo screws each time I had to adjust or change something - it was very time consuming, but in the end I think it looks quite nice. :)

Anyhow, herewith a picture of the sprayed side panel I had made up and fitted - note it didn't have a clear coat at this stage, the clear coat makes it blend in a little nicer:

So yeah, like I said, 99% done, once I have the plexi panels, I'll finish up and take some final pics. :)

BONUS POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p

Quickly went to Maizey to collect my windows... ;)

Tonight I finish my build! w00t! :)
