This reminded me of a case between Gavin Mannion (from Lazygamer/Critical Hit) and Colin Webster.

Another update on our legal case

The ongoing legal battle with Colin Webster is still ongoing but we have an update and some good news

Basically, Gavin wrote a factual article and Colin took offense and sued Gavin. The legal costs alone were massive, and in the end Colin just simply stopped the case. He just wanted to waste Gavin's time and money.

So if you offend somebody, make it somebody as broke or brokerer than yourself. You could come up against a Colin Webster (who is a great humanitarian and completely not corrupt).
