My dogs (lightly) chewed the mics on 2 of my headsets and now they don't work anymore, an A50 and an Arctis 7. Don't ask me how or why or where or when etc. I just know it happened. I don't use these headsets much (I have too many other headsets that are getting the limelight). But I'd like to fix them and either sell them or put them to use again.

So... Is there any kind soul out there who can help me fix them or point me in the right direction?

Some info that might help:

1. They are very lightly chewed, it's only noticeable upon close inspection, so I assume the inner wires must have been bitten into
2. The A50's mic actually works when I bend and twist it, but only at very specific angles.. so it's not usable as is, but seems fixable
3. I can still select both the headset mics as the sound input in Windows
4. If not clear from the above, both mics look fine aesthetically and still pull out, move as they should etc. .They just don't work

Looks like Ethy is also getting some Logitech pro X :D

This sucks man. You can try email Astro and see where you can buy a spare mic maybe to replace the one on it. Might need some soldering work.

Just bought him an A10 from Carb a few days ago, so I can claim my other A50 back.

Yep, def will need soldering work. Didn't think of the spares thing, although I highly doubt that's an option. Would prefer to pay someone here to do some surgery for me.

Try logging it with them and see what happens. I dont know who the local agents/repairs guys are for Astro.

Thanks. Sent but there's basically zero chance they will supply a new mic or even reply. So back to the top... is there anybody out there who can fix this for me and make a few bucks on the side while doing so?

Send me some pics of the damage. Maybe i can assist
@Pietaaa when you have a chance, can you post sime pics of the mic? (Gerrie has my A50 atm, he was looking into it to see if he could fix/solder it). @00Mfaan I'll post pics of the Arctis when I'm back in SA on the weekend. There's not much to see though, it looks like a stock Arctis 7 except the mic doesn't work (there are very light bite marks on the mic, which is what gave it away).

Okay Cool,
The soldering is the easy part, the challenge one usually have with modern day products is the product being sealed and cannot be opened for repairs.

True. The A50 has what feels like some sort of rubber mic housing (well, it's soft, not quite sure what it is). But it looks like it can be sliced open with a sharp blade, soldered and then prob glued back together on the slice...

Photos attached. I'll DM you and we can arrange for me to drop it off with you. Man, it would be awesome if you can find a way to fix the mic!

Hi @00Mfaan I decided this is a lost cause. Moved the A50 to my TV room for use when gaming or watching movies when needed. Thanks for the offer to help dude, I really appreciate it.
