Hi all,
Not really a "modded" rig, but just wanted to share with you my new rig I'm busy setting up for the girlfriend and myself.
Firstly some info about me and my PCs:
I've always been into computers (got my first PC in 1997, Intel Pentium 120mhz BEAST - lol), but my first "gaming rig" I got in 2005 when I started studying, was a AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Winchester Core - Overclocked very nicely), 9800 Atlantis (replaced with Asus 9800XT - 1st ever 2nd hand purchase made off Prophecy forums back in the day), had a Chenbro Gaming Bomb Chassis and 19" CRT.
I finished studying and started working, imported a couple of items, DFI LanParty UT CFX3200DR, Corsair XMS Platinum DDR400, Thermaltake Armor, X1900XTX, Logitech G15, Logitech MX518, this rig was on the top 10 3D Mark scores in SA (on SystemShock.co.za) for a while as I managed to clock the CPU to 2.6GHz from the stock 2.2GHz and the GFX was also overclocked quite a bit.
This rig started giving endless issues and so I sold off some of the parts, bought a new Mobo and AMD Athlon 64 FX-60, 2600XT Crossfire, Antec P180 with a custom modified perspex side window which I then sold a couple of years later.
I then bought a new setup, Phenom II X4 945 (I think) Black edition, new mobo, Corsair Doms, 4850 Vapor-X and CM690 pure with nice UV lighting and UV fans - this was the last rig I owned before the recent rigs I've got, as I gave up PC gaming (Was an Xbox ***** for quite some time), and proceeded with upgrading my car as I was quite into motor racing, the car is also now sold and I've got a 2006 Suzuki SV1000S to cure the Need for Speed.
Soooo... long story short, I grew tired of FPS console gaming, and decided to buy the M14X in end Nov' 2011, been hooked on PC gaming again since, especially Battlefield 3.
So now with all the gaming going on, my girlfriend said she also wanted to start playing games as her Dell Inspiron 1545 can't really play anything, I decided to buy/build a gaming rig that I can use to play some of the games that struggle on my Laptop a little at better frame rates, as well as giving my girlfriend a chance to experience gaming as well (Basically just a big excuse to buy another gaming rig for myself. )
In total we have 5 computers at home now. Lol. My work i5 laptop, a HP DC7100 with HD4350 card and 1.5TB drive connected to the network and TV for media, My GF's Pink Insperon 1545, my Alienware M14X and now this PC as well, once a PC nut, always a PC nut I suppose.
Anyhow, I finally assembled all components I have so far last night and snapped some pics:
