1. My mother got an sms the other day stating that if she doesn't change contracts they will be changing it for her to something she dos not choose in the next month or 2 weeks, something ridiculous like that. So she called in and gets told "No we don't offer that package anymore and you have to change to something else or we will do it for you". Just like that, no notifications, no mails or anything to state that the contract she is on is now no longer provided by MTN. If she didn't read the SMS her service plan would have changed without her knowing.
MTN can eat winkie honestly. Shittest customer service, no interest or respect for their clients and literally always pull your cash first and you must fight them for your own money that they do not rightfully own.
2. Had a big fuck up with them a few years back where I was offered an "Closed contract" form the Cradlestone Mall store where once my designated data was up it would cut any traffic and not run out of data bundle rates. One night, I am at my mates house on their WiFi (on that contract whenever there was wifi I would turn mobile data off to not us the Mobile data), and next morning my father called saying he has an 8k bill because of out of data bundle rates. Turns out there were to sessions that ran on my phone through data obviously doing who the fuck knows what to rack up 8k in a combined time of like 3 hours. Go to MTN, the "person" that "helped" us , apathetically sat there mono toning the shit out of every response, tells us no these sessions went off and that is where your bill comes from. Meanwhile we are trying to get the root of how those sessions initiated in the first place. She didn't pay one bit of attention to or entertain that request.
Then she stated no the contract you have does not offer a "Closed contract" solution and that you are on an Open contract plan, which is why you ran out of data bundle rates, the out of data bundles rates at the time did not match and physically could not have amounted to R8 000 in the time frame which the sessions ran, which we did query and the only bit of salvation we got out of this while ordeal was that they checked the out of data bundles rates pertaining to the date's the sessions took place and adjusted the price of R8k to R3,xk. Meanwhile that's exactly what was offered to me in store, which we tell her. She then stated that MTN stores are not part of MTN itself and that you have to go back to that specific store and take it up with them. HOW THE FUCK, WHAT THE FUCK xD We didn't get anything out of there(MTN Headquarters is where this meeting took place), the woman slouched into and out of the room in which we met her, literally not one fuck is given to MTN customers, they do not care about them. Not in any of my experiences with MTN at least.
