As the title states,

I am wondering if it is worth switching over to Ryzen as the prices are around the same ballpark, I want to get into multimedia work and editing so there is that factor. The overclocking capability is also a factor, no igpu but not too big of an issue. I would just like some thoughts and advice on if such a move is worth it in the people's opinion :)

Current Build is in signature.

lack of igpu annoys me
Not sure about price/performance comparison for your needs but I love ryzen 7 and have few to no slowdows despite an unstable OC thanks to shitty ram(my undervolting for mining doesnt help... but the ram is shit regardless of voltage)
your ram may be a inhibiting factor but the system should still perform at stock levels hopefully(ryzen needs fast ram to operate at its peak)
I dont know about the performance difference for your needs but above should apply regardless :)

My ram is rated at 3200. but not fully supported at those frequencies and it doesnt even want to startup. I have not done a bios upgrade in about a year though but i doubt it will ever run at full speed

In my opinion if you are able to get a swop for your cpu and mobo then go for it. Yes you do get better performance from the R5 1500x, but overclocking on Ryzen is not that great. At least with AMD you still have one generation to upgrade on.
Which mobo would you get with the R5 1500x might be the deciding factor.

This is the reason I am considering going for it, basically a straight swap in terms of price, but minus the Ram from the sellers side as my RAM suits me just fine and it is good overclocking RAM.

Basically just getting more thread and a higher clock speed, and I have wanted to try Ryzen since its inception.

Thanks @Alien but the 1600x at that price eats most of my budget, I will upgrade to the 1600X at a later stage once I have a Ryzen system.

aim for ryzen 7 1700(or 2700 or whatever) as your future upgrade :D. not much extra and the performance boost is really good between the 2. extra cores and cache

I have a friend who built a 1700/1070 system just to play with us and he hasn't switched it on in over a year. I will trade with him at some point xD
