Have a steelseries rival 300, mouse wheel has started to miss turns after 5 years and is driving me mad. I have opened it up to try and clean it but to no avail, so looking to upgrade.

Looking for the following:

5 or 6 button mice, no extra macro buttons.

No ultra lite mice with a crap ton of holes.

Thinking of going wireless, would like to hear positive/negative feedback on switching.

Looking at
Steelseries rival 650
Steelseries rival 3
Logitech g703
Logitech g503, dont know if the extra buttons will irritate me

Any experience with these or other recommendations welcome

I have been using the Steelseries rival 650 for the past year and am very happy with it.

The buttons & scroll wheel feel well made and work perfectly. It has a nice weight with the 8x 4g weights installed and is comfortable to use for long gaming sessions.

The only common issue I've found is that the rubber grips peel off the hard plastic.
I have read on Reddit that Steelseries will generally exchange a unit without any hassles if this happens, but I rather fixed it myself.

I have only used cheap generic mice and a cheap Red Dragon mouse in the past so I can't compare it to other medium-high end mice.

Good luck with your search.

Here, I, Bythe Cantloads declare that, I will always love and care for my G502. Till death parts us. After which I will replace her with another G502.

Question - is your issue here with the lightness? Or the holes? Because there are a lot of very good very light mice
without holes (Viper Ultimate, G Pro X Superlight, etc). Most people these days reckon lighter mice mean better aim, so it's worth thinking about.

You can try RocketJumpNinja's mouse search, where you input your hand size and grip type and it searches for a good match: https://www.rocketjumpninja.com/mouse-search
Or just look at his list of top mice, he is a well-respected mouse reviewer: https://www.rocketjumpninja.com/top-mice
But note he tends to rank lighter mice higher so if for some reason you want a heavy mouse, it probably won't help a lot.

If I were to buy a new, wireless mouse without holes it would probably be the G Pro X, just because it suits my grip style.

I've owned the rival 300, upgraded to a rival 310, then upgraded to a G502, then a G703, and I'm currently on the G Pro X Superlight.

The G Pro X Superlight, for me, is the best one yet. It's unbelievably light, battery lasts about 2 weeks with everyday gaming on 1000hz polling rate, it's comfy, and I never feel asif I have to adjust my grip.

It's pricey AF, but worth it imo

Just don't like the holes, lighter is better, will check out the G Pro X thanks
