Morning All,

First off, this isn't a timed plan upgrade,, as in I will certainly be upgrading within the next month, more simply a prospective look at what currently exists and interests me to have a window of what I may want when the time comes.

-1st and main point will be colour accuracy, above all other feature, this include refresh rate, swivel features and monitor features. Colour & panel are the no1.
- Screen size 27" or 24" ? Obviously 27" is nicer for the real estate, but I would prefer to go 1440p if I go up in size as it is the sweet spot in balance for monitors currently.
- IPS Panel - 144hz above or not doesn't really matter, just a plus.
- Monitor will be colour calibrated regardless of which one I get when I do. (If it doesn't need it obviously it won't be corrected, but the accuracy will at least be checked)
- Price is always a factor, but I believe there are some decent monitors within ~R4-6k (second hand of course), But price is not set, just what I have seen in the past few days of looking.
- HDR would be a nice addition but monitors that actually support HDR(and are good at it) are much less common. Or simply in a higher price bracket.
- No curved Panels.

Options:

- TUF Gaming VG27AQ|Monitors|ASUS Global
- ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD, 27 WQHD 144Hz Gaming Monitor
- Dell UltraSharp 27 Monitor - U2719D | Dell USA
- 27" WQHD clamp-type Monitor SR75 with Space-Saving Design | LS27R750QEUXEN | Samsung Business ZA

Looking at these monitors, first choices would be the Asus TUF because it is an all-rounder and has great colour accuracy when calibrated, downside to the TUF is that the 60hz XP or variable refresh rate doesn't seem to be great. Second is the pro-art because the panel and colour seem to be decent out of the box.

Appreciate the input :)

See if you can somehow get your hands on one of these. Here is a little review i wrote about it a while ago. Hope it helps :)

My Final cost ended up close to R5500 but i was importing to Namibia. I am sure you can do better for SA.

I own this Monitor, great deal. Set the settings to these and you are gold. Out of the box the settings are way off. The freesync works wonderful comparing to other freesync monitors that i have tried and response times are as advertised. Unfortunately no DP cable is included so beware. Ha! the speaker is pretty bad too and dont even think about HDR. just turn it off.

Brightness: 35
Contrast: 50
Eco: Standard
DCR: Off
HDR: Off
Color Temp: sRGB
Freesync: On
OD: on (Pixel Over Drive)
All else set to default.

With those it becomes very close to proper sRGB colors for your all around usage. As a web programmer and a gamer i can vouch for its quality.

You can search reviews for Pixio PX275h (Another awesome choice, slightly more expensive but has much better OSD and support). Has the same panel but not the same controller. OSD on this Electriq model is inferior in every way.

Also beware that with my unit the stand didnt fit properly and i had to carve away at it before it went in but from there on it was fine. Apparently its a common fault with these units.

I have the Dell 27 inch IPS screen and I’m happy with it.

I don’t know if it’s worse or better than the others but I wouldn’t go back to 1080P if at all possible.

1440 for 27"
1080 for 20" - 24"
love the Dell U series 27" 1440p monitors. But I dont game, so you might not like the low refresh rate if you game.
I dont know how the pro art series is now, but they used to have really bad backlight bleed issues.

Where can you find a 240Hz 1440P IPS monitor that has accurate colours within the R4-6k budget. I am sure everyone would like to know.
First off, he said the price was not set. Secondly, the comment was not meant to bully him into going with some exorbitant screen but merely as a suggestion to perhaps wait for something such as the AW2721D or Acer Predator's amazing 280Hz variant to drop here as they will last you longer. If you buy cheap you buy twice and seeing how long the PG279Qs have retained relevance and value despite them being 5 years old now and were regarded as overpriced at launch has taught me that lesson all too well. I'm sorry if my comment pissed you off.

Meh.

No paragraphing; 0/10.

I know he said price is not set, but combining 2 of my braincells, I concluded that he does have a budget smaller than probably the R15k it would cost for your option. He did say price is a factor, and he did say he is looking at R4k-6k options.

Also, you said 1440P 240Hz monitor is the way to go, why don't you have one? Is it perhaps that you had a budget, and no matter what anyone says on the interwebs, you would not have been able to go over that budget?

I didn't expect a response, but I would have been less disappointed if you said you were trolling.

I don't really understand what the big deal is bro. I'm literally just trying to reason with you. I don't get why an argument needs to ensue and people need to be criticized for everything. Have you ever considered that perhaps I'm waiting for the same screens that I just mentioned or that I perhaps might be leaving the country and do not see a reason to purchase an expensive screen that I won't be able to take with me? Like, come on bro; you guys are just being unnecessary by this point. Not everything has to result in conflict.

I keep forgetting to reply to this xD
@aminfri thanks for the suggestion, I will look into the monitor but I will prefer something locally overall just for ease of getting it.

@Blood_Bought I agree, hence not wanting to go 27" unless it is 1440p, I don't think 1080 will be good for it other than having the extra pixels. Will also look into the pro series and see if their issues remain.

1440P 240hz is well out of the question xD

@LouisABC I think that was the one I was meant to tag not the 27119 wat wat. I would consider that though, thank you.

Bear in mind that if you go for 1440p or 144Hz (or both) then the rest of your system will need to be up to the task. If your current GPU and CPU can't achieve the resolution and FPS that your new screen is capable of, you'll need to factor in the cost of upgrading that down the line.

If you have a 1080Ti or a bit stronger ill recommend the AOC CQ32G2E 31.5" Quad HD (2560x1440) 144Hz Gaming Monitor, Good color, no issues with Nvidia, Adaptive refresh rate works perfectly, small issue, your darks in some games are spooky dark xD but its thrilling xD

Well aware of this, the screen upgrade will only take place after I find myself another Vega 64 or above GPU as I understand how essential it is to have the HP to drive the pixel density. Hence why this isn't an immediate upgrade.

Cannot do curved panels, they can be inaccurate for colour work and generally I don't enjoy them for anything other than a SP title.
Just not a fan of curved monitors in general.

Nothing wrong with that xD, if you are going for colorwork, IPS and the Dell S2721DGFA would maybe work for you

Yeah I have most been leaning towards the Dell and the Asus TUF series. This is more to see if there are shortcomings that people have experienced with them and/or other monitors I am unaware of.

One thing is could say is that the AOC CQ32G2E 31.5" Quad HD (2560x1440) 144Hz Gaming Monitor was for me also bit worrying due to its a VA panel, but the Gen 2 version of the AOC screens are from the Samsung VA panel variant and i was highly impressed

I am specifically looking to go IPS because my mate has had the 24" version and whilst the colours are nice I still don't think they properly compare to IPS displays. Especially once calibrated

in all honesty, it seems like the Dell ticks all boxes, has proper local support and not a scalper company like Asus.

Looking to get myself one as well sometime.
