Hi all, looking for something like the following Honeycomb Mesh, any ideas on where to get this?

Tried the filter stuff from DEMCiFilter and I really don't like it, it's okay as a backing to the main mesh, but want something reasonably hard such as the above.

Or I will end up 3D printing something.

Regards

RS Components can supply, both in stainless steel and in aluminium:

Alternatively, just google "perforated sheet" or "perforated plate" for more options...

Thanks, looking at modelling something in F360 either to be printed or laser cut.

let me know on that laser cut quote

because I just wanted something done (yes ok, it was 8mm alu plate with gaps cut via waterjet), but the price was insane because of the many cuts

I think yours may be reasonably cheap, but maybe ask how much of the cost is actually for the cutting

Here's the plan @Off-The-Chart.

Have you tried SPP laser here in Cape Town, they are quite reasonable...
Why waterjet btw?

was the only option other than plasma that my local steel place whom I mostly go to, has available

yeah that pattern I think would cost a bit on waterjet, so would be interesting to see it with laser

I actually want to give Vulcan in the Cape also a shout and see what they would charge as I think they could possibly laser (I know they can do 6mm steel)

SPP can do 12mm aluminium and 16mm steel on a laser.

R1300+ for those pictures above from Cape Vulcan

R9.5k for that, that seems a bit excessive tbh.
Wonder if having it CNC would be any cheaper?

I want to ask Vulcan, but my issue with having it done in there is the shipping it would cost to get it here

waiting on someone in Boksburg to reply

yeah, would have liked to see if doing it with a cnc router would be cheaper, but not sure I know of someone local that can do it

Yeah, ITT road freight isn't too expensive, just need to have it well wrapped!

Had to get a 10mm aluminium plate for my 3D printer, and their version of 'wrapping' was brown paper.

It should, it's just the cost of time that may come out super expensive, especially when doing multiple passes.

ok, so out of the R9500, R1100 is for the actual 8mm alu

yes, that makes total sense I know

gonna try and find out what the difference would be if those cuts are just solid single slots from top to bottom (one of my suspicions)

want to try and keep it the 8mm, but unfortunately they can't do the slots in stages (think they don't "home/reference" their parts when they waterjet :( )

oooof that alignment would touch my OCD in all the naughty places :(

what material is that?
It's getting mine too don't worry, I didn't realize that I was 20mm off, as I centred the holes on the aluminium sheeting, but the fans are offset in the case(it sucks)

4mm Aluminium, then wire brushed

think the woman I usually get my quotes through, might be ignoring me, since they made a mistake on my last job and I emailed them about it, but now silence :(
