MKV Supra launch imminent

It even looks like a z4..

Yeah, I'm still not a fan.
Apparently there's already plans for a "hot" version later down the line.
Why not just push out the best you can from the start....ugh

All manufacturers do that.
There's the 335i, the 340i and then the M3 from BMW, the S63 AMG, the S65 AMG from Merc, the Golf GTi and the Golf R from VW.

The costs go up exponentially with a high end version like an M3.

Edit: oh and Ferrari is known for it's limited edition models like the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale

While this is true...It shouldn't be happening when you're bringing back an icon like this.
There are already 3 models at launch. Not a single manual version. Let's not even mention the stupid pricing.

I also see people talking about how Toyota and BMW did this to save money...
Now, I'm sorry but Toyota spent over $22 Billion on R&D last year...When you can afford to spend money like that, you can afford to develop a new car by yourself.

One last thing...It still looks like a fat GT86 with pinched cheeks and one ugly face.

The manual version will come. I doubt few will be able to afford this, it’s not going to be cheap.

I think, if you want the original Supra, buy one.

I understand why Toyota went to BMW for the parts because they saw a great product already with costs shared between BMW and Toyota.

Nissan and Renault share platforms, VW, Audi, Porsche, Bentley and Skoda are all basically an Golf with a new badge.

It’s really expensive to make a new car and it’s far less risky to copy...I mean codevelop a car.

It just makes business sense but that doesn’t sit well with the fanboys who just want a purist car and this is coming from a person who’s dad owns a Supra.

Still feels half assed.
I don't mind the interior bits (BMW interiors are fantastic).
Although companies share chassis/platforms/engines, you'd expect Toyota (The people behind the LFA) to be able to give us a new 2JZ.
It has nothing to do with fanboinism either. It feels like such a kick in the teeth to bring back an icon and then do such a half assed job.

They had an opportunity to give us something great, instead they decided to settle and give us something good.

Nissan did us proud with the new GT-R when it launched back in 2007.

Yeah im all for sharing platforms but when a company builds a new vehicle to takeover from a really iconic car you dont go share platform... I dont see the point rather leave the car and not build a new one then.

Its like the GTR and nissan decide hell renault got a nice 2 door hatch lets rebrand it as le hatch gtr...

We know rnd isnt cheap but its not like toyota cant make something in house you just need to look to lexus with the lfa (im sure this was in house) and the le man teams.
