So I am keen on tackling a super small DIY HTPC case build... Anyone here that has embarked on such a project before? Looking for advice and recommendations on materials, design etc... aaaaaaand go!

EDIT: I'm referring more to the case being DIY than the components ;)

Step 1: Buy small components.

Step 2: Connect small components.

Step 3: Connect RGB strip.

Done!

Pi 4 anyone?

Depends what you want to do with this HTPC, just watch 4K or maybe use it as an emulator as well?

Will be used strictly for watching content... I found a nice Mini ITX board here on carb that I will be basing my build on:

Paired with an i5 6500

Not sure what you wanna connect. But my experience with a itx, (8700k, Asus z370i strix, 1080ti) was HOT.
But this was my own fault as i went cheap with the case (Thermaltake core v1)..

So get a lekker case with good vents and definitely a modular psu to spare youself some frustration.

Yeah, the DIY part I was referring to was more for the case than the components ;)

How’s it, came past this thread a bit late, but there is a reddit channel/ forum on Reddit called r/sffpc /small form factor PC’s that is all about DIYs and just cramming as much power in smallest packages
