I'm looking to switch over to Mind the Speed as my ISP with Vumatel as the fibre provider in the area. Has anyone had any experience with them and if so would you recommend them? The MyBroadband thread seems good but it is after all a dark place no Carbie should ever go alone. Currently with Seacom (Wondernet) but they're coming in more expensive for the same package and I am not sure if it's worth throwing the extra money at when it can be used for CUD.

I haven't heard any bad things about Mind The Speed. I currently make use of Rocketnet on Vumatel network for the past two years and not once have I had downtime or any form of throttling due to excessive usage. Even at the times when undersea cables broke, some ISPs grinded to a halt because of it. However, I wasn't even aware of any issues until a few days later when I caught up with some news.

Long and short, consider Rocketnet :)

We have implemented Mind the speed with Vumatel at the in laws and it was a existing installation that got moved to them.

Process was smooth and quick, no issues, router sent out immediately and all is working without issues. 3 months down the road and we haven't had any downtime except for load shedding.

Thanks, this is pretty much what I needed.

One quick clarification question. By downtime do you mean that the actual network goes down during load shedding or just that you cannot access it during those times because there's no power to the router? My router and network switch are hooked up to a UPS so the former may be a deal-breaker.

I've been on MTS over Metro for about 6 months now. Can't complain at all, line is solid and all down time has been on Metro side, I know this as other units in the complex would also be down on other ISP's.

Support is also very quick, the 1 time my line did drop for about 10min on a Sunday evening I mailed them and received a reply within 7 minutes saying they saw my line dipped but should be back up shortly as one of the switches rebooted.

EDIT:
I also run my router on my inverter and the internet works fine during loading shedding (bare in mind this is Metro, not Vuma).

Ya we dont have a UPS setup on the routers in the house so when power goes everything goes out.

Thanks for the replies guys. Going to leave this open for another day or so just in case anyone has something else to add but I shall be getting the ball rolling today.

I have been using MTS on Vuma since August. I am very happy with the speed and almost no downtime. Their prices are reasonable considering that it is on Vuma.
