So I recently moved to a place that has MetroFibre.

With Axxess, I migrated my service from the Vuma line to the MetroFibre line. While I was organising, they informed me about the line speed upgrades MetroFibre is currently working on, which would be implemented within the first two weeks of May.

So I opted for the 50/50 line (because this would be upgraded to a 100/100 for the same price). Since moving in, in the middle of May, my line speed has never gone up from 50/50. I decided to give it until the new month, but there is no change in speed.

My account states I have 100/100. So now I am having to jump through hoops and share MAC addresses and all sorts of shit.

TL;DR - Anyone with MetroFibre as a line provider that hasn't seen their line speeds upgraded?

What are you currently paying?

It was already completed by the 5th of May for everybody in our complex.

IMO, chances are that, if you only signed up mid-May, you're already paying the reduced price for 50Mb/s line speed.

The 5th of May? What? I think I being taken for a fool...

I am paying R875, which is the price for a 100/100 line.

Is MFN your actual service provider? The direct MFN price for 100Mb/s is R1 070, according to their website.

I'm with Metro Fibre and vodacom, also no line speed bump, still stuck on 50/50.
I read an article that it would be during May and June..
So unsure if I'm just being impatient.

Actually I may have read incorrectly  It's 2 weeks not 2 months

The overhaul is part of MetroFibre’s drive to make quality fibre internet access as ubiquitous and accessible as possible for South Africans. The product adjustments will be effective from 1 May 2022 and rolled out over a two-week period after that.

I was on the 200/200 and got the free upgrade to the 500/500,
had to restart my fibre box and router before it came into affect :D

this was like a month ago already.
coolideas and metrofibre

with Mweb and also hoping that they will implement the speed change

was on a 100/100 so 200/200 would be epic

No, Axxess is my ISP, really getting fed up with them.

Yeah, I also saw the 2 week thing, but still have them the benefit of the doubt and waited for the start of the new month.

It seems like some people got the upgrade and others not. It is very odd that it hasn't been implemented throughout all the ISPs. Maybe ISPs are just cashing in on the lower tariffs, hoping that subscribers won't notice it that quickly?

Smells like something Vodacom would do.
Had a look at my bill for end of last month, it's still :

"51200Kbps Line Speed
Fibre Access
Line Rental
50Mbps Bitstream Uncapped Monthly Alloca
Suburb Specific Levy
Huawei DN8245 Leased
Vodacom fibre Broadband Metrofibre"

see on my account details it shows we on 200/200

guess I will be checking a download later on

What rubs me up the wrong way is, that I sent Axxess 4 different speed test, from 4 different sites all showing a speed of 50/50.

I send these to Axxess who tell me no, I need to do another speedtest with my PC connected to the ONT directly (as if this will make 100% difference). But for them to do this I will need to provide them with MAC addresses of my devices to allow the direct connection to the ONT.

I just told them straight up "No. Next solution".

k, no upgrade yet on this end

sent an email now to ask if I should do something for the change to get activated so let's see

Got my speed upgrade on the 29th of April after rebooting my ONT , my ISP is Mind the Speed.
If they want you to connect to ONT directly then they want to rule out the router as the issue, which is a bit weird as it's extremely unlikely that the router is the issue in your case and they should just log a ticket with Metrofibre.

Alternatively you could try and call Metrofibre directly and see if they would be willing to have a look.

Same here, too bad I moved last week to a new house with another provider... Back to 100/100 for me :-(

On Metrofibre with CoolIdeas - got my speed upgrade on 2nd May.

I've asked Vodacom on twitter what the F they think they're doing pocketing the change.
Suddenly they want to switch to private message.
If they don't want to pass on the savings I'll switch to someone else.
Thank goodness for Month to month contract.

So I phoned Metro this morning and they were very helpful, seeing as they are not even my ISP. They said that they will run some troubleshooting from their side and that I should test again when possible. If the problem isn't solved they will need to send a tech to my house.

Might be in everyone's best interest, who hasn't received the upgrade, to phone Metro to report the issue.

Mine was also Upgraded ...They said it will only happen on 1st July but it happened 1st of June
I am on Mweb/Metrofibre

This was a pain to get sorted in the end.

The second time I phoned MetroFibre, after they agreed to help and no change in speed was seen, I was told that they could not help me and that I should sort it out with Axxess.

I phoned Axxess again and did the speed test directly connected to the ONT. Sent those screenshots to Axxess who forwarded it to MetroFibre who then logged a fault. This was all on Friday and the issue was resolved by Tuesday. Still feel that ISPs are profiting from this for as long as possible.

Yup, I'm still waiting on Vodacom to sort out mine. In fact they may not sort it out and then I'll just move to another ISP.

My friend is also on Vodacom and Metrofibre , He phoned Vodacom today and they said it only applies to certain routers and what what ....
But Metrofibre said EVERY customer who uses them will get a double speed upgrade , not if you have a certain router that they will upgrade you ???
But the did upgrade him Today

I just got this back from Vodcom...
You mind pm'ing me the general suburb your bud is from.

"Metrofibre has not communicated to Vodacom when a Double up of speed will be rolled out. Please keep your eyes out for a SMS. Kind regards, Vodacom Fibre Support Team NoReply"

Still nothing from vodacom:
I have called MFN, and they confirmed my line was upgraded.
But Vodacom don't want to help

Does your friend have a 100/100 speed line? If yes, the router must be 200/200 capable, so that's probably what they meant by "certain routers"

Yea , i think he was on 50/50 (Cheapskate) Haha ....now on 100/100
