So I'm considering going this route since my range extender (I know) seems unstable and walking across the house while on a video call craps out. Additionally I want to have lan ports in certain rooms without cables running through the house to the router.
I think a 3 pack kit would be perfect for my space although I dont want to blow my already limited budget.

A cheapo options is:
takealot.com
I'll have to buy 4 of them but its ok, its still cheaper than a lot out there and I wont complain about extra coverage. Not a reputable brand I know but if works as its supposed to then why not

The absolute limit of my budget and I what I would rather not spend can get this:
takealot.com
That has the bonus powerline connection which I really like, I'm sure this will be much more stable than wireless and I can maybe game stream adequately over it. But considering everything thats going and uncertainty about work I'm trying not to spend that amount.

Any other options out there that can be delivered/collected during this lockdown?
Note that I'm not looking for the absolute best out there, I have lte with download speeds around 70-90mbps and I only stream and game (nothing competitive) on it. Connected devices are: 2 desktops, 2 laptops, 2 cellphones, 1 nintendo switch, 1 tv box. Not all at the same time

Bumping this - I'm very happy with my Unifi setup but I scored with Carbie prices :)

I have a friend who's looking to sort out his home wifi properly and I'm not sure that dropping all that cash on Ubiquiti is necessary. Curious to know whether these Huawei etc options are the right move.

Update here: I went the cheapo bundle x 2, so for 4 satellites. Its extremely disappointing and I logged a return within an hour of delivery. With just a single satellite set up my download speed on both 5ghz and 2.4 is halved.
I set up the rest and apart from the speed it works well, no drops in signal when switching over.

I've sucked it up and ordered the huawei kit, hopefully that powerline function sorts out the speed

What kinda speeds are you getting

Download speeds were down to 25-30mbps.
I'll see how the Huawei performs, I'm banking on the power line connection making the difference

Are all the devices connected to each other via WLAN? or do they each connect to your switch via their own port?

All connected wirelessly.
I know some bandwidth is lost this way but I didnt expect it to be that drastic. I have a wifi extender which receives a pretty low signal, but connecting to that the download speeds are in the 40s.

On the cheapo mesh connecting to the main hub which is next to my router and hard wired to it still has speeds in the 20s

Any feedabck on the Huawei Units, I been looking at them for a while, I also desprately need a mesh system. How easy is the power-line setup part , can you use the wifi as backhaul if powerline is not available?

Works perfectly, setup the main router and then the satellites connect automatically. The powerline is also enabled by default.
The kit works with the Ai Life app, theres a setting to automatically switch between wifi and powerline depending on which is better, or disable completely and just use wifi (this lowers speeds significantly for me because of the distance and walls between satellites)
