WooHoo. For some this may be old news, but for me not. Can't wait. This year we are getting BattleTech and now this. Awesome.

Don't forget about Heavy Gear Assault which is in EA

Thanks, will check it out. I remember PLAYING Heavy Gear 1/2 back in the day.

MEKTEK worked on another Heavy Gear Title but I stopped tracking their progress. Guess they never released it ?

Edit : Checked the Steam page. So this is the guys from MEKTEK ?

why not play Mechwarrior online ? looks about the same

Played it a bit. And even though it is F2P game, getting new chassis etc was a pain to grind for currency. I mean, buying a mech for $40 (some go as high as $80+) is crazy. Also, it feels more like a "twitch shooter" than a sim. Hoping Mercs 5 bring back the Sim feel of the game.

Edit : Masakari pack is $240

im cheap, $15 price bracket. once you got a mech you like its more about the game and less grindy.

But i do hear you.

as for twitching the size and slow movement of 90% of the mechs makes me disagree with you, it also helps the plebs cope with poor latency.

Which mech(s) are you currently stomping around in ?

I've been playing Mechwarrior Online since closed Beta - I've spent around $500 over the course of the game. Anvil can testify, think he's in the same boat as me.

It got a bit stale, too many promises not kept. I still jump on now and then..

I really hope that this doesn't go the same route as them

Appears to be. Still got a looong way to go though. Seems these aren't the fastest devs.

I started in the hunchbacks, a medium with decent balance of firepower, movement ability and armour.
Then moved on to the jagermechs.

Currently trying out the clans and did the same thing, as my skill got a little better i finally went for a light and assault(KDK).

In MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries you will adopt the role of a rookie MechWarrior pilot thrust into combat as the Third Succession War continues to fracture the Inner Sphere. Take contracts from the factions of your choosing and engage in tactical, first-person, PvE ‘Mech combat through an immersive, career-based Mercenary campaign driven by player choice. Victory, prestige, and profit will not only require skill on the battlefield, but in the acquisition, maintenance, and enhancement of your BattleMechs.

Liking what I am reading here. Hope they can deliver.

I am indeed in the same boat. Threw a metric shitton of money at PGI for the game they promised. It wasn't all bad, in fact it was a lot of fun most of the time, but they were way too money-mad and focused on stupid little things instead of keeping their promises of content.

By the time any major promised content came it always felt too little too late. Stopped supporting because of this. I enjoy the game, but don't paint a chicken green and tell me it's a parrot.

Also hoping this new title doesn't go the same way.

MWO is great fun but does not have the same campaign / missions feeling as the old Mech Warrior games, I'd likely get this game despite having a fair number of MWO mechs.

Is Hawken still a thing? Or is the game dead by now?

I gave it a go. I didn't like it. It's too... COD like.

If you want a buddy to join, add me on Steam and in game, Kuga_ZA I still have some mechs I need to level up.

I spewed water all over my keyboard reading this. Thanks dude.. We should jam some time again :D :D

But on topic. I'm really hoping they don't stuff this game up. Mechwarrior Online was intended to be originally Mechwarrior 5 and single player only. Check out the original trailer here -

But then the developers changed and given to PGI / IGP and Mechwarrior Online was made instead.

I really enjoy MWO, done a few great drops with Kuga and got into the clan warfare, i got around this time last year and only played for free, I've really enjoyed it, but do agree it does get a bit boring quick. Wish the missions had some variation to them, that been said the scout and clan missions are great fun, specially when you get on TS with big clans from around the world.

I'm keen for this new one !

This is turning into quite a game. Can't wait. Might just pre-order this when the time comes.

:( Reading back through this thread makes me sad cuz Heavy Gear dieded :(
At least this game still seems to be going strong, me likey :D

Probably will pre order.

I have been playing MWO since 2012 - and have spent over $600 over the years lol. I really hope it isn't a fail.

So, MW5 released yesterday. Any one playing it ? What you think ?

I will probably wait for Steam release. :(

I bought it a while back played 5 or 6 missions. The graphics are so so, the voice acting sucks ...I have had one or two crashes but overall I am having a awesome time..
BTW I am old enough to and have played the previous versions at launch...This feels more like the two original version to me..

Decided to jump the ship and got my first game off Epic Store and made use of the $-10 coupon.

Really enjoyed the game , but now in the later stages in the game, I am finding it infuriating. The amount of enemy spawns are just ridiculous. I barely finish the missions as my AI partners drop one by one. Having to basically rebuilt the lance after each mission.

I wish there was a difficulty setting that can be changed so that people with lesser skill can still enjoy the game.

I am currently Merc lvl 13 with all my pilots in the 50'sh skill levels , but now I am wondering if I should just swap them out for lesser skilled pilots as according to some topics, it seems the enemy spawn, (amount and type) are factoring in your equipment and AI lance skill, so maybe having kak pilots might make the game a bit easier.

Other than that, really worth the ~R250 ish spent.

Hopefully the mod tools will be release early next year.
