Hey Everyone!

I was looking for a community with fellow manga collectors in South Africa but I couldn't find any, so I'm creating this thread.
We can discuss collections, purchases, sales and trades over here.

I'll start off by sharing my collection so far:

I have a large order yet to be shipped as well. My favorite manga is Berserk for sure!

where'd you get your berserk hardbacks

Berserk still sealed though? Favourite, and don't like digital as much, something doesn't add up.

That Berserk hard back makes me hard!
Personally I prefer Anime but there are a few Manga's that just Rock.

I wish I had money for manga. Not a lot of bookstore in Cape Town sell. You get a strange look from people when you ask for manga or light novels. Only place I now know that sell is Bargain Books, but not much. I tend to read online and support scanlations.

Yeah Ive only read volume 1. Volume 2 is forever out of stock locally so Ive had to resort to importing it. Id rather wait for the physical copy than continue reading it digitally.

I played through the Dark Souls trilogy a few times and they are by far my favorite games, having said that, they are heavily inspired by Berserk so its only natural that I'd love Berserk as well.

I used to prefer anime until a young me watched Tokyo Ghoul, fell in love with season one and then watched season 2 and 3 and I've been scarred ever since. 😂 The anime doesn't do the source material of the manga justice at all.

I love both anime and manga still though.

I absolutely hated Manga until I had to read it just to see what happens next in Claymore.
Ever since then if an anime was shitty but it started good, then I had to check the manga to see if it was by design or by sheer fucking Idiocy.

Claymore has a really beautiful boxset!

In my experience if the anime is shitty or starts good and becomes shitty its almost always because they dont follow the manga accurately or they try to condense too many chapters from the manga into a single episode.

I know the struggle dude. I actually bought quite a large amount of manga from Bargain Books in Cape Town last year and brought it back with me to Joburg. (Bargain Books in Canal Walk). I went again earlier this year and their selection wasnt as large but they still had a decent amount of things to choose from.

I went to the Exclusive Books warehouse sale today in Rosebank and bought a bunch of manga. Everything there was R45 each so I payed a total of R810 for all of this. I was so happy to find manga on sale there!

What a steal Blue exorcist is a good one. Is the sale applicable here in Cape Town. I did remember seeing EB selling at the Waterfront, but the section was so tiny to consider them selling. Maybe it was just the store I went to. So I don't know.

Im excited to collect the rest of it! The sale was specifically at Rosebank mall but my girlfriend says that the exclusive books near her house also has a warehouse sale once a year, so maybe most, if not all exclusive books have an anual warehouse sale. Im not too sure.

Yeah this sale was pretty large, they hosted it in a whole different empty part of the store and not in the actual Exclusibe Books store.
