Last year I ordered a gaming laptop (Dell G3 3590). The GPU stated in the order on their website is suppose to be the 1660Ti with desktop performance. I have only now come to realize that I got the 1660ti with max q design instead.

I didn't have the knowledge last year to have been able to identify this when I first received it. What are my options here? Is it too late?

You were expecting a 1660Ti with desktop performance in a laptop? If you had received that, you would have complained about 3rd degree burns just from browsing the web.

Way too late and you should have done your research before buying. It is still a 1660Ti.

Firstly, what is the difference & GPU stated in the order by the seller vs the manufacturer website?

Off the cuff, I would say the same thing... curiously, there seems to be two mobile versions of GTX 1660 Ti, and one looks (theoretically) pretty damn close to its desktop counterpart. Guess the OP was counting on that one, and got the baby edition instead.

Look, Dell is a pretty big company. I am pretty sure that somewhere under the exact model of laptop that you ordered, they will state the exact version that you received.

Please supply a link/screenshot with the information below that you state.
Once we see this proof, we might have a different opinion regarding deceptive practices.

Edit: It appears that this laptop comes with multiple GPUs that you can configure.
GTX 2060 mobile is an option as well. WHat does your order say?

Hi, I did not order from Dell. Here are screenshots of the order in its details and a screenshot from GeForce experience showing the GPU specs.

I think I know where he's coming from.

Did you order from Evetech? If so, you are SOL.

Take everything Evetech says with a huge spoon of salt. Their marketing/product names are all basically a template.

The Evetech part of 'Desktop Level Performance' is part of that template.

No way will you get a return based on that.

Unfortunately I did get it from Evetech. I appreciate everyone's help and advice.

Last year so 6 months +- according to the post
Yeah, was wondering if it fell inside the CPA period or outside. Not sure if the Act would help but I think it might include some possibilities. Of course the question is more whether it's worth the fight.

As for contract, well I guess one to ponder as the goods don't match the description that formed the basis of the sale but again it might not be worth the fight except maybe in small claims and even then a lot of effort and debt collection would still need to go through magistrate's court. Chances are they'd just ignore until a sheriff rocked up.

Look to be honest it states desktop level performance.
They will just argue that 1650Ti Max Q is faster than the GTX 1050, so clearly it has desktop level performance.

And secondly, it is Evetech.

I'm a bit torn on the interpretation of what they say.
"1660ti with desktop level performance" could also mean it competes with other desktop cards, not necessarily the desktop 1660ti. But I can also see how someone would interpret it as 1660ti desktop level performance

wait, so everyone here is saying that within 6 months of using a product, you could still have it returned?

also, unfortunately imo, "if you didn't have the knowledge" to know what you were buying back then, you shouldn't be able to return something

that's like me saying I want a 1TB SSD, but I am unsure on what I actually need/want from it, so let me use it for 2 months then I will return it and take another and test that
(other factors involved I know, but a dumbed down scenario)
