Hey all

So I'm looking for new games to get into - I'm into stuff like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the Witcher, etc

Any thoughts?

I recommend this game everywhere. It's a top-down RPG so not an action game like SOTR or The Witcher, so it's a bit of a change of pace. The storytelling is superb and the art style is excellent; the way it handles the character's internal monologue is really innovative. It kept me busy around 25 hours to finish it (main story plus maybe 75% of side quests) but you can go slower or faster. It has pretty good replayability because your character's skill progression is very deep. So at its current sale price of R 165 it's a bargain. It's pretty well-reviewed as well so I'd say it's a safe bet.

Have you tried the Batman Arkham games? It is one of my go-to recommendations when people ask for an action-adventure game.
I'd also recommend Deus Ex Human Revolution and Mankind Divided.
The Bioshock games are a great experience to play through.
If you are willing to travel back a bit further in time, Alan Wake was time well spent.
For something a bit more linear, both Star Wars Force Unleashed games were great action experiences.
The classic Portal and Portal 2 is a blast and humorous.
Half-Life 2 is accomodating to newcomers to the series and comes highly recommended to anyone that appreciates linear action with story (less action-adventure)

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is also one of the best recent ARPGs I've played. It's still pretty pricey but it's a blast, it really captures the feeling of being a lightsabre-wielding Jedi badass. And the graphics are epic. It's also proper challenging at higher difficulty settings. I haven't finished it yet but I can already definitely recommend it.

+1 for this.

Busy currently with the game. The graphics are really outstanding with beautiful scenery, you definitely feel immersive when playing. The music is awesome and the I love the character, Cal. Fighting is actually quite intense and rewarding.

Awesome story so far!

Maybe add The Elder Scrolls V to the list as well.

I never played that game in my life and feel it is a must for all gamers out there.

I am sure you would enjoy it, also there is a massive community in the modding side of things, so you can really customise the game to your liking.

I recently purchased it on Steam and this will be my next game after Fallen Order.

From my side, i would recommend:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition (if you havent played it yet...its on sale on Steam - and yes, i know you listed it above as examples of what you like)
AC Odyssey (i would recommend the Gold Edition which gives you the DLC's and AC 3 Remastered + AC 3 Liberation Remastered for Free. Currently 67% discount on steam)
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (50% discount on steam)
TitanFall 2 (one of the best FPS shooters i have played + it has Mechs aka Titans and also 50% discount on steam).
Mass Effect Trilogy (if you feel like playing an old classic) and then Mass Effect Andromeda.

May also be worth looking at Xbox Gamepass for PC (provided you have the latest version of Windows 10 - requires at least May 2019 update 19H1) - They have some good games in there currently available on PC (check the library first to see if there is anything there that does interest you to make you want to try this service)

Would you kindly try this? Its nothing short of brilliance

Play this entire series finishing with the superb Inifinite. The stories are insane!

After reading this and the other comment above, I bought the collection to try it out myself. Never played the BioShock games.

Has anyone mentioned Divinity 2: Original Sin yet?

Playing through it at the moment, and really enjoying it. It seems similar to Disco Elysium (top-down RPG) although I haven't played Disco yet.

It's basically the PC game version of Dungeons & Dragons. Lots of replayability, with a number of characters to choose from. Also a lot of different play styles. The scenery is great, with outstanding dialogue and story.

The Steam reviews are also overwhelmingly positive.

I got about 30% through the game...
Spent 16 hours replaying the start area trying to recruit every character (while using mods) and some of them refuse to team up if another character does something while in your party...

Did all this just to lose one of them randomly during a cutscene and lost my shit.... haven't played further since...
Awesome game though

Hahahaha, it is a pretty deep game, and I've also had my frustrated rage moments as well. I haven't gotten that attached to my team though

You wont be disappointed, finishing the story is extremely rewarding.

If you haven't played The Bioshock collection, you haven't experienced the peak of true Single-player games
