I unfortunately recently received notice that I am set to be retrenched from work. There are legal things to go through but I expect that the process will be finalized around June. I have about 8 years experience and have worked for two of the largest media houses in the world, one on a freelance basis and one on a permanent basis in addition to doing work for many clients over the years.

Any leads or tips will be appreciated. I am based in JHB around Rosebank.

Does anyone know of any career/guidance services apart from recruiters? I'm getting rejections after rejection when I thought I would have a decent CV. I haven't even landed a single interview after almost 3 weeks.

I've been in a similar position, I have a degree and experience but was looking for work for months on end without getting a single interview. I got so fed up that I started calling and visiting companies directly. The thing that scored me a job at the end of the day was having a well set up LinkedIn profile full of buzzwords and endorsements from other people. (I contacted folks on my LinkedIn network, explained the situation, and asked them if we could endorse each other's skills on our respective profiles.) I was about to start selling off my assets and look at emigrating when I received a job offer from a company that contacted me via LinkedIn. If that did not happen I would definitely have left, there is a lot more opportunity abroad, in my field of work at least
