Hi everyone, I hope all is well!
I graduated from my degree (BSc Information Technology - Software Engineering (Java Major)) in May this year.
I am currently at almost 900 unsuccessful job applications, lack of experience in the field is what is knocking me down here, big time. I have been working since 2019 but formally employed fulltime in 2024 for my family's business as an operations assistant. I have handled spreadsheet automation, email sorting, product procurement, lots & lots of debt collecting, daily operations handling and warehouse organization.
Within my field of studies, I majored in Java as that is what I did at school. I was fortunate enough to attend an IEB school where we covered in depth: Java, C# and SQL.
Finished products:
- phoenixrigging.co.za - full website, php mail sender for requesting a quote, hosting, email hosting, SEO and google APIS integrated for google maps and automatic pulling through of reviews (html, css, php, js)
- wearesocialight.co.za - live website, awaiting better images and more content from owner - not too proud of this but as I stated, awaiting content from owner, web hosting and email hosting (html, css, js)
- A monday.com customized replica for a client for tracking daily and future jobs, viewing old jobs, keeping track of equipment, staff and vehicles (js, json, node, ts, docker)
- Pre trip truck inspection - pre trip truck inspection web application for doing the inspections digitally and informing managers of completed inspections & issues (ts, html, sql)
- Personal portfolio website - still a WIP
- Naggy - an API for XERO to legally pester unpaying customers past a certain date.
GitHub projects:
- Spotify taskbar tray display
- Clash of clash daily scraper - scrapes the super cell store daily for free items and notifies the user via a discord message
- 3rd year university project - A inventory tracker for equipment and assets for phoenix rigging
External experience:
2016 - Present: Phoenix Rigging Operations Assistant
2022 - Present: Owner of KieKa company (vehicle and business branding / vinyl company)
2024 - Present: Owner of Stadlxr Drones (job and site surveying drone photography & videography company)
2024 - Present: Owner of Stadler Racing (racing team that preps race cars & partakes in yearly endurance races)
Comfortable coding languages/Tools:
HTML, CSS, JS
Java
React
PHP
SQL
Git
Docker
Google Suite
Microsoft 365
~Python
~Restful APIS
Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.
