They’re both HDR10 but Active HDR performs brightness measurement per frame whereas Samsung uses static brightness metadata (the frame with the highest brightness across the content). But the real advantage of the LG for HDR is OLED. So there’s no reliance on dimming zones because this is managed per pixel (and not by zones).

Edit: If you buy LG you’re buying it for the OLED. That’s LG’s game changer when it comes to HDR performance - alongside perfect blacks of course.
