Item: Left and right Airpod
Age: 1 1/2 years
Price: R600 each ear or R1000 for both
Warranty: Nope
Packaging: Nah
Condition: The Airpods work fine. The case is stuffed. I'll throw in the case if you buy both.
Location: Somerset West
Reason: I got a new set
Shipping: On you
Collection: Sure
Link: AirPods

My Airpods case died, I thought it was a faulty Airpod but I bought a new set and it turns out the earbuds are fine but the case is broken. So I'm selling the buds individually. Welcome to test. These cost R1900 EACH if you have to replace them at Apple, so hopefully I can help someone out who lost theirs.

How the hell? When you can buy both and a case for not much more. Or is it like silly car parts where they just don't want you to buy the individual thing?

Now let me find out what a replacement case costs...

If you want to buy the case from Apple you may as well just buy a new set. A new set costs around r2900 these days.

Yeah that was my logic as well but I have some connections who may have a "misplaced" case or some such.

But seems you have a buyer already. I've been waiting for a 40% eBucks bargain that happened and I missed it.

How do you find them overall? Especially in contrast to the standard wired ones? The vibe I got is that although they are the same they are amplified and therefore produce a deeper sound?

If I had previously worked on that case I would have taken the risk to fix it.

I can't live without them to be honest. I went a week now with them broken and eventually I just caved and got the best deal I could find.

It's not so much about the sound quality although that's fine, it's like you say a bit more resonant than the standard wired ones but nothing to blow your mind. It's more about the integration with iphone and the fact that they fit so well in my ears with no wires that I forget about them, and they never budge even if I'm running outside or doing a gym session. You pop them into your ear and they immediately sync up.

That's the part that is a little overplayed I think and why I haven't fallen for it yet.

Sure the initial setup process is dead easy, but once paired the overall experience is much the same as my Sennheisers.

It really isn't much the same. The integration is way ahead of standard bluetooth earphones. You don't need to 'do' anything once they've synced for the first time. Just open the case, put them in your ear, and it beeps to tell you it's synced, then you can listen. They don't lose contact between the left and the right earphone. Honestly the Airpods are a brilliant device, I've had plenty of bluetooth earphones and there's nothing else like them. Why do you think it's so hard to find anyone who criticizes them on Youtube? Even people who were initially critical of them apologized.

etc

It’s exactly why I’m saying it’s a bit overplayed as I simply haven’t had these “problems” with my headphones (apart from them being headphones and not as portable of course).

I turn them on and they work every time, even jumping between devices like the Airpods do.

Siri integration on a button and the real magic...I can adjust the volume on the head set without asking Siri. :)

But I would love the Airpods as a more portable option regardless. They are just a bit pricey for what they are so will continue to wait on the ebucks special.

Wish they would just get on with the next generation versions.
