Hey carbies

Seeing as this is a tech forum and there are a lot of people on here who know things, would it be cool to do a free learning section ?
We can do coding, internet of things, smart home and so on ... just an idea.

I know we have udemy but this could be a local thing, guess we can share udemy courses on there too.

Im pretty sure if there are articles or learning sections where one can troubleshoot problems,it will be very useful.I do occasionally search for error troubleshooting hardware installations or atleast driver errors.

Not sure if/how it could be applied here, but at one of my previous companies they used to give all the devs one Friday off per month, to work on something of their own interest. Then, later in the day we would do a small show and tell, and the repo/source files were kept in a local server for anyone who wanted to go back and relook at it

Often, people would work on it for multiple sessions, and others would often try to extend on it, going as far as them taking it all home and continuing to work on it

Was a pretty fun way of learning stuff, rather than just watching courses (not that they didn't help). Was also kinda cool coming back to something you worked on a while back, and seeing how it's grown

Results ranged from some pretty powerful docker setups, all the way to an automated trigger that fired up the ice machine at 3pm on Friday

As a radio amateur, one way we get the old timers to learn new radio stuff relating to Software Defined Radio (SDR) is to host workshops every now and then.

This ranges from one person presenting a whole workshop with Q&A in between sections, to a more build it yourself workshop, it all depends on the end goal for such an activity.

I'm sure if there is enough interest, one could organize such a thing for coding/projects etc.

I don't know all languages nor all stacks available, but I am familiar with a bunch and wouldn't mind learning more or teaching folks.

Regards

@Greekking

I completely missed this thread, as I don't browse this portion of the forum.

making a separate sub forum might make sense. but not sure if everyone will browse it. I have seen in the last week or two that people asked excel questions in smack talk anyway.

I post free Udemy courses and other stuff in the following thread. most of the stuff would be programming and career related

I clear out old Udemy courses after the 2 days past, because the coupon codes expire after 48 hours. Every few days i post a more complete list, but recently started to post a daily post (after it happened twice that a coupon became invalidated as I was posting it - one expired and one was revoked))
