I have a Lenovo Y730 and want to either purchase a single extra 8GB memory module for dual channel, or replace the original module with a 16GB kit (2x8GB). The main question though, would the laptop support 3000MHz or 3200MHz 16GB kits? I am not sure if those modules require XMP or will the regular JEDEC specs be at 1500 or 1600 with clock 16 to 20?

I don't see any XMP options in the BIOS of the laptop. Has anyone tried different upgrade kits on the Lenovo Y530/730 or Y540/740?
