Hi all

Some advice needed. We set up a few Azure AD instances to help manage users for Microsoft 365.

The Azure subscription was the trial and subsequently was not upgraded to PAYG in time.

Thus the Azure AD instances are 'gone' and cannot be accessed.

Does anyone know if, and how to go about reactivating the old subscription OR regain access to the Azure AD instances?

This all went down in the last week.

thanks

Hey there,

Currently working on Azure retention policies for work and came across the below:

Subscription Retention
In the term of an active subscription, a subscriber can access, extract, or delete customer data stored in Microsoft 365. If a paid subscription ends or is terminated, Microsoft retains customer data stored in Microsoft 365 in a limited-function account for 90 days to enable the subscriber to extract the data. After the 90-day retention period ends, Microsoft disables the account and deletes the customer data. No more than 180 days after expiration or termination of a subscription to Microsoft 365, Microsoft disables the account and deletes all customer data from the account. Once the maximum retention period for any data has elapsed, the data is rendered commercially unrecoverable.

For a free trial, your account moves into a grace status for 30 days in most countries and regions. During this grace period, you can purchase Microsoft 365. If you decide not to buy Microsoft 365, you can either cancel your trial or let the grace period expire, and your trial account information and data is deleted.

Looks like you may have time to recover the subscription provided it's within 30 days...

Can't help directly but with all my azure enquiries I phoned Dynamics Africa and they helped me alot. Migrated fully off-site at the beginning of July.

Thanks @cm101 . The challenge is that the Azure AD instance is now defunct, but M365 works OK. I can recreate the users, but wan to first see if they can recover the Azure subscription first. Looks like I'll need to wait for the glamorous support team to get back to me

Will be interesting to find out whether they're able to recover the old Azure AD instance for you could you let me know what they say please?

Are you solely using Azure AD without any on-prem domain controller sync?

Will do so @cm101

Correct, I've only provisioned the Azure AD instance to start the journey for domain auth in the future

I think so too but the issue is that I cannot reuse the directory names as they still exist.

Furthermore, when I try and add new services to my subscription it gives me another issue which i have also logged a request.

Lesson learned. Dont let stuff expire. Rather sign up with a payg instance from the start
