Keyboard Nut Thread

Built a keyboard for @Cereal recently, shipping it off today. Pretty nice start to his journey 😁

  • KBD67 mkii Soldered PCB
  • Alu plate
  • NK Silk Yellow switches
  • NK PBT PBOW caps.

Stabs are Cherry screw-ins, but clipped and lubed, and they sound and feel fantastic.

Pretty decent soldering too:

It's so amazing. I'm loving it.
Mad props to @Kaamraan the build quality is insane, couldn't have asked for any better <3

I got lazy this weekend and just didn't make the parts I planned to... whoops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway here are some pics of the Ikki68 extras. There is a little bit of pitting in the material that I used for the badge but stress not, I will use different stock for any future pieces.

Side note, if anyone wants some silicone bump-ons for the bottom of their keyboard, shoot me a message. I may have ordered 960 more than I need for a project.

Is that the LK67 with honey keycaps and, lemme guess, gateron yellows? BUDGET AWESOME?!

If it is, I am actively resisting something similar.

Anyone tried this yet? I'm tempted to try as its only R140
I ordered this a month ago. Tracking says "out for delivery but it has been like that for weeks. Not at home at the moment, so not sure if someone there received it for me. As far as I know, it is the real deal, or at least "Good enough"

TK68 ;). Budget awesome indeed. The ASA keycaps it came with are phenomenal as well! 7 day battery life + pre lubed stabs

I'm going to order some just for the lols.

Did your keycaps come through the post office or courier directly?

Post. But I have an idea that because it was a rather large box, it went through customs quicker. Normal China Post was really fast in this case.

Hey all, is there a local source for some Krytox 105?

Or is anyone willing to part with some of their supply?

Finished up my ikki68 build late last night and couldn't be more stoked with the outcome. 😩

Mint Ikki68 w/ Stock aluminium plate, custom badge and weight
67g Tangies lubed with 205g0
Durock v2 stabs
Akko Wave caps from Mechanical Keyboards South Africa - Control Shift Escape

Hey everyone.

As some of you may have seen we're a local proxy for the Deliciosa Deskmat group-buy that's been running this month. If you haven't seen these deskmats, you can check them out at the link below. We're really excited to be proxying some international group-buys and since adding the Deliciosa deskmats we've got another two lined up which open for orders next week (these will run for a month and are already on our site to look at).

There are 2 days left on the Deliciosa deskmats for anyone interested. I realize that I should have posted this a long while ago already so I apologize for the late message. We wont be able to accept any new orders after the 20th but if you really want to join the group-buy but can't commit until the end of the month please DM me before it closes and we'll make sure we get your order included.

Shipping to customers on the above is expected to be Dec / Jan.

Hey. I have the white housing Outemu Browns on my keeb. With what lube should I lube them? Do they need films? I am planning on buying the Akko Macaw set for my birthday from CtrlShiftEsc. My keeb is a modded Redragon K552 Kumara (Hot-swappable).
I have even clipped, lubed and Holee-modded my stabs. Loving this keeb.
I am currently making some DIY lube out of Hobby RC shock oil mixed with trombone slide grease. I did research on slide grease. It says trombone grease can't be substituted by Vaseline, as it could harm it, thus making me come to the conclusion that slide grease is not petroleum based. I at least know shock oil from RC cars is safe for plastic. I am gonna lube an extra Brown or Red switch later. I also have one black left after I gave one to @bearman . I know that he is loving it as of now : )
I will give feedback on my results after a week. I know trombone grease is cheap and you can easily get shock oil for RC cars for cheap. I just might have made a Krytox replacement.

Oh, and for those who are interested, I found a local Krytox supplier. Keep in mind that this is in bulk. PM me for more info : )
Here are their prices:

The ones that are available:
Krytox GPL 205 GRS, 57GR/2OZ-TUB 25CTN - è MOQ 25 tubes (1 carton) / Multiples as well
Krytox GPL 205 GRS, 227GR/8OZ-TUB 25CTN - è MOQ 25 tubes (1 carton) / Multiples as well

GMK Laser 😍 really nice build dude!

I didn't read or search this thread but couldn't find anyone local that manufactures and sells mechanical X and/or D input controllers for console and PC. Lots of money to be made for those who know a thing or two bout this kinda stuff.

Hey guys I figured id ask here,

In the process of modding my DK61, I removed the PCB from the case, and the USB-C connector detached itself. It requires resoldering and i honestly have never soldered anything in my life. Is there anyone here that could assist me with this?

Its my first little project and my shipment with switches, keycaps and stabilizers just arrived so i'm quite disheartened to have it stopped here :(

As long as you haven't ripped any pads off, it may be fixable.

Hey everyone. My first post here. And please forgive my ignorance.

I have a Redragon K556 that I have had for a long time that I have put up for sale here on Carb.

I was wondering whether it might not make a good first time modding project rather than selling it. It seems to be a quality construction. It's quite heavy and sturdy. Is this keyboard worth modding?

If it is I am not sure where to start. I know it uses Outemu switches, and I don't particularly like the stock brown switches. I have been nerding out on Ctrl.Shift.Esc but I have no idea if any of their switches will fit this keyboard. The lettering on the keycaps isn't great either, will any keycaps fit?

I suppose I would really like to know if anyone has modded a K556 and give me some ideas on what I can do to transform it into something special. And if it's worth doing.

Hey man. As a proud owner of a modded Redragon Kumara with Brown Switches, I will tell you it is worth it to mod it. It feels amazing after modding. I actually have spare Outemu Reds that fit that keeb's socket. I suggest you replace (if you hate Browns) and lube the switches. Then I would also recommend clipping, lubing / holee modding the stabilisers, putting bandaid between the keeb plate and stabilisers and getting new keycaps. Any keycaps with Cherry MX-style stems would fit your keeb. PM me if you want to talk about it further. Modding a cheap keeb is hella fun! 😁
I have Red switches from Outemu that fit Redragon sockets, we can trade switches or I could sell mine to you. I already have them for sale on Carbonite.

I have a set of Gaterons that don't fit my Redragon. I thought Gaterons were also MX compatible. Or do I have a non-MX Redragon perhaps? Are they all compatible or just some?
