Keyboard Nut Thread

OK, I'm looking for 1 other person to do a buy off www.zealpc.net. I just want to buy 110 Zealios v2s so I'd like to get to $200+ on the order to get free dhl/Fedex.

I checked last night, you cannot use an affiliate code and get free shipping. Obviously if there are any duties we will only know when it lands. I'm in Durban so any shipping to you can either be arranged by yourself or I can book Xoc(Tcg) for R150.

I'm open to having more guys, but not open to delays because of it.

Edit: Order done with @Razia :D

Built a Mysterium with Gat Yellows this weekend

Thanks for bringing these in @Razia

I'll be getting a better keycap set for it soon, the current one is just a placeholder
Just checked this and they say you have to put the resistors on yourself.
what is the benefit of soldering your own keyboard together? Sounds like 100000000x more work for no reason unless I have missed something.
Does not look like it is hot swap either so why ????

Uuuuuuuhhhhh... It was fun?

ah, it is one of those for the sig things
Nah not really, I just enjoy soldering and little electronics projects.

I have other hotswap boards that are a lot easier, but I love the look of the open, through-hole circuits on these boards.

Another very cool feature, to me, is that the source files for the circuit board and such are available on github and you can, in theory, just have your own made with JLCPCB. The through-hole components are easy to come across at most electronics stores, such as communica or RSE, and it's very accessible. I'm sure there are hot swap designs out there, but I'm afraid I don't know of any like this. My Sofle, which is a split board does, however, come as a hot swap kit. Even has compatibility with kailh choc switches, if you're into that low profile thing

The board does look unique. Personally I do not look at my keyboard when typing and gaming. Just sounds like a stupid amount of work for absolutely 0 benefit when there are easier things out there. Buy a simple hot swap keeb, put your own switches and keycaps on then enjoy gaming and typing.

I have been looking at the GMMK PRO since it comes with foam, hot swap, various plates to choose from and just the right size for me. Can change the feel and sound of it easily with a different plate and switches without all the hassle. Never had a need for all these github things since I can 360 no scope tac cancel headdie you with a genius membrane keeb:geek:

I always lurk around, but I blame this thread amongst many other things for getting my feet wet.

The keycaps are temporary, I want to go with something like GMK Milk & Honey.

Oh yeah for sure it makes sense. I just build these keyboard because the actual physical act of building them is the fun part to me :p

Please, flex the camera harder

(I'm actually so jealous, that's a really cool camera. How hard is it to get a hold of medium format film these days?)

Hahaha ah yes, the lil' Bronica hiding in the corner! Let me insert a closeup (feat. some film I have not put in the fridge yet) :p :

Getting medium format film is actually not that hard - there isn't a huge variety (well, I mean there is variety but film goes out of stock so quickly that you end up either with Portra 400 or 800). That being said, there's a pretty good shop here in Cape Town that sells a nice variety of film stocks, and they can develop color-positive film (hence the Provia in the shot). The bigger issue is more spares and goodies for an older medium format really.

And money. I have to take some film in to get develop from the last 2 weeks and I know I will be paying a small fortune. But worth it in my opinion.

Good Day my fellow keyboard enthusiasts. Slight bump in price but these will be here very very soon!!

Please place your orders here ASAP

Thanks @huzidada for starting this! We are really glad to be onboard.

@huzidada and @ctrlshiftesc_za thanks for arranging!

How long will the group buy be open for?
Group Buy will remain open until 30th April. We will then review interest and order in the minimum quantity to cover all participants. If there are any extra's available we will put them on the site after group-buy orders have shipped.

Making some progress with my K4. The stock caps are really bad. So far Just lubed stabs/lubed Gateron reds/caps and the space bar has the 'holee mod' lol. Zelios V2s should be here next week but need to wait for the lube station to arrive because this is all too annoying to lube without the tools.

Hi all

Figured this is the best place to ask any keyboard related questions.

Im sure someone here has typed on a lenovo keyboard. I have lenovo y510p (yep its old), the keyboard is amazing. Im not sure on any of the technical details other than they are called AccuType 2.0.

I'd prefer the chiclet style keys with scissors switches that have that same "clicky" sound like the Lenovo. Looking at wireless to declutter the setup, and it must have some form of back lighting.

I've been searching around for a desktop keyboard with a similar style, size and feel.
I've come across the Logitech K740, but this is a super old keyboard and don't think they exist unless you go second hand.

I then came across the K800 which is wireless and backlit(big plus), but again it's quiet old.

This led me to the MK850, does anyone have this keyboard? I've seen it for sale as combo with a wireless mouse, and ir seems ok on price as well. From what I've heard and seen it doesn't have any of the things I'm looking for though, no back lighting, no chiclet style, no scissor switch that gives that super quiet and lovely "clicky" feel.

I've come across the Logitech G915 clicky, which sounds and feels(at least from the videos I've seen) like exactly what I want but the pricing is high and I haven't seen any clicky variants in SA. Something like this in a cheaper price range would be perfect.

I've also seen the Cougar Vantar, its seems like a decent keyboard. Got the back lighting and the clicky sound. But I feel its too much RGB, especially with the atrip that goes all around it. It is wired which doesn't help.

I have seen the lenovo branded desktop wireless keyboards, but they don't come with back lighting (at least the ones I've seen), and the reviews on youtube are useless ao I have no idea what they sound or feel like.

Basically what I want is a G915 clicky at a lower price [emoji28], doesn't have to be RGB either, just some decent backlighting.

Anyone got any recommendations? And
Why is it soooo hard to find that "Perfect-for-you" keyboard? [emoji23]

Hi guys. Im thinking about getting the ID80 from Idobao. Anyone purchased from them? If so, how long did it take to deliver to South Africa?

It depends on what shipping option you're taking but DHL is faster than FedEx usually. Fedex takes up to two weeks and DHL is hella fast so you'd be able to receive it anything from 3 days to 2 weeks depending on what option you've selected.

I'm trying to build a lily58 Pro, so I needed some hot swap pcb sockets. I'm not sure if this is their official aliexpress store but I'm taking a chance:

The thing is they wouldn't deliver to SA, so I have it coming in from Dubia via Aramex. Have no idea if this will work of what additional charges I'm going to incur. Will shout if it works.

@justJetz Have a look at the Keychron series of keyboards. They can be found locally and on Amazon for more or less the same price landed.

I think the K1 would suit you perfectly.
Thanks for the response. Seems a bit pricey though. I think I'm going to go with the Vantar for now until a few options exist in the low profile mechanical keyboard space with good specs or until I can afford a G915 clicky 😅.

I read that Tesoro amd Hexgears X-1,but they still aren't quiet what I want. Seen on reddit and apparently the G915 clicky uses the Keihl PG1350 switches, which are in a keyboard called the Havit KB395L.

Been thinking of getting in on the Black Ink V2 buy then this pops up in my feed.
