Keyboard Nut Thread

Between those two, I would suggest the Coolermaster. Otherwise, if you want to play with different types of switches down the line, you can try importing a GMMK, those come in a full size variant

EDIT: Figured I should add this, but it's generally worth lubricating the stabilisers on those keyboards at some point if you feel comfortable trying to do so, they will otherwise rattle quite a lot
Thank you so much for the advice!

Any of us weebs on this thread have a TKL with brown switches?
I am seriously in need of the dedicate buttons but cannot find anything to replace my ducky One2mini.

've been trying to trade it for another Ducky but the time has come to look at another brand.

Have you looked at the Keychron K8 at @Techfox ?

Since I have been pulled into the rabbit hole by FeelsBran, what say thy forum members to Optical vs Gateron switches?

Just bought one for my brother and he absolutely loves it (he is new to mechanical keyboards).

Need the confirmation with more experienced enthusiasts here - but I've heard they quite identical? I recommend also checking what switches you can hotswap with. I know the one Kemove keyboard model could only be hotswapped with optical switches.

A quick praat with TechFox and cleared up the differences/use case.
Gateron's it is :)

Hey guys, anybody thinking about jumping on the Ikki68 group buy?

Looks really good and is reasonably priced vs. the other group buys I've seen running. Shipping as usual is the killer though. If anyone is interested I've contacted a few of the vendors and seems like mykeyboard.eu is the cheapest at EUR 33 for shipping to SA with DHL Express.

The Aurora x Mizu is unique, but sold out already.

Also note, the center USB out. :)

So, my GK61 arrived. Now the fun starts. Running Optical browns on it, which I actually love (So not going to change that as yet, unless I can maybe get my hands on something similar to Panda's but Opticals I think this board only takes Gateron??)

Recommendations on some Mods and Keycaps, Maybe a nice Chasis? Amazon the go-to still?

I think the worst part of the board would be the stabilizers. Any recommendations? I've already done O rings, Sponge to be done tonight

@PandaAttack1 how you finding those glorious panda switches? I'm pretty keen on importing some for myself :)
Worth every penny! That is all I really have to say, yes. The hype is worth. I might be biased due the investment, but they're definitely delivering.

I am lubing them this weekend. So next week I'll be able to comment on the full experience.

Why can i not have a G413 in black with white back light and low profile keys. is this too much to ask.
Is this possible or is this simple design lost in the world of RGB and huge mech key caps.

You will have to build a custom keeb if you want that aesthetic coupled with low profile switches.

Also, I feel personally attacked with your 'huge mech key caps' statement.

Probably have to go that way.
Hahaha personally attacked, is it arts and crafts week in camp panty land Karen ? :p

You need a Keychron K1 in your life

Its a bit ugly though, reminds me of those mid 80's video editing suite keyboards. Like D-vision stuff.
Also i'm that weirdo who likes a full sized KB (I use it often) and the keys are not back lit.

Edit, i see they have a full sized 104. doh
This says the body is backlit so assuming the actual keys arnt which is not what i want. i like the symbols/char on the keys to illuminate and the rest to be dark. Like a MacBook KB

I'm pretty sure it's backlit and has a full keyboard option.

Edit: Saw you got it

@Razia

Can you get this. all black, low profile, 104, white back light?
Whatever colour or linear, tactile..blah that is. Less clicky sounds, but a nice smooth feel.

I wonder how similar this K1 with Red low profile keys would be to the COOLERMASTER SK650.
I had the SK650 and it lasted less than 5 min on my desk, absolutely hated it.

Think i'l settle with a ROCCAT Horde AIMO. Seems basic enough with the functionality i like for the most part.

any resellers have these in stock? @Reseller

I am currently typing Keychron K8 TKL Gateron Browns I immediately put o-rings on them. However I obviously tested before and I can the keys are great, the o-rings only dampen the sound and shorten the bottoming out/travel distance a little bit. However the stock stabs on this thing are worlds ahead of the Ducky I had, not even comparable to be quite honest.

Gateron Browns feel better than Cherry, smoother but still tactile and the entire keypress just feels more refined as a whole. And just to say it again, the stock stabs on this board are fucking top-notch, could not be happier right now with this board. I definitely need to get a wrist rest though as this is a tall body.

A big big thank you to @Techfox for holding 1 of the last 2 for me (especially given this may be the only batch that comes in), and the absolutely flawless customer service. Top-notch, genuine person to have a talk with, I am a very happy customer right now & for the foreseeable future.

I'm glad they upped their stabs on all their keyboards. The first keychron I had was pingy as hell. The V2 came and I couldn't believe the difference it made.

I was rather surprised at them one of those double back moments when you first hear the sound of them.

Is anybody experienced with connecting Keychrons in windows? my PC is not discovering it at all in Bluetooth devices and whilst I would use it in wired mode, the cable is the only gripe I have with the product as the length is certainly not long enough to have freedom of movement.

So what would be the most preferred, Logitech G915 TKL wireless or a Ducky One 2SF?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but Takealot currently has the Redragon K530 Draconic on sale for R805. I got mine today and after using a full-size Redragon keyboard with Outemu brown switches for over a year (the Devarajas, I think?), the brown switches on the K530 are substantially better. The switch casing is definitely different from the previous board (white vs. black on the K530) and this 'newer generation' switch feels far less scratchy. The stabs seem to be factory lubed as well which is a nice touch. I've just added the HyperX pudding keycaps with o-rings for a bit more sound dampening and I'm over the moon with the performance. The Bluetooth is working like a dream and there's no noticeable lag at all. Still need to work out how long the battery will last but, overall, I'm incredibly impressed with this thing! I can finally do away with having two keyboards on the desk and can now seamlessly switch bluetooth between the work mac and the home PC :D

Just picked up my first mechanical keyboard! The Keychron K8 with Gateron Brown Switches,
-It has lived up to most of my expectations.
-The height really isn't an issue, The 2 prop up feet make it easier to type as well,
-However when typing really fast i notice the ping is quite audible when the switch bottoms out, Not a deal breaker tho,
-Now its time for mods! Looking at getting nicer less boring keycaps, Blue & White or other cool colours
