Keyboard Nut Thread

@Keyboard Kulture - do you have a website or Facebook page or something to show the stuff you're working on? :)

Not yet bud, gauging interest on the whole thing before I pour even more work into it at the moment, but I will post a picture a bit later of my board with all the customizations on it if you want to see that :)

Yes, please! Been hunting artisans ever since seeing the Frostmourne one on r/mk - they're usually super expensive and doubly so to import, so something local would be rad.

Okay, so this is my board, for those that were asking to see a little more of my work.
For those interested in all the customizations, here goes.

This started out as a TOFU 60% Grey Aluminium Case with DZ60RGB-ANSI Hot Swappable v2 with Cherry Stabilizers and Brass Plate with Pre Cut Case Foam.

  • Case was De-Anodized and polished to a Mirror Finish (Kept it like this for about 2 weeks (I'm very impulsive and love to change things)
  • Case was then re-scuffed and Etch Primed allowing me to coat it
  • Case is now coated with a Beige Sand Stone Finish (It's heaven!!!!)
  • Keycaps are Currently RK Carbon Side Print PBT Caps, with custom Red/Maroon ESC/ENTER/BACKSPACE Keys
  • I also rotate Razer Neon Green PBT Keycaps and GTSP 61 Orange/Teal Keycaps
  • 2 Artisan Keycaps - Both made by me - Unicorn Resin and Darth Vader Key Topper
  • Full Genesis Acoustics Sound Dampening Material lined Case
  • HDP Foam between Sound Dampening and DZ60 PCB
  • Keyboard Kulture Lubed and KBDFANS Filmed Gateron Yellow (Yes, I could have gone something more "EXOTIC", but these are my absolute sweet spot. I did have NovelKey Creams in to start)
  • Genesis Acoustics Custom Cut Sound Absorption Foam Mat (For Keyboard to stand on)
  • Keyboard Kulture Acrylic/Wood Full Resin Custom Wrist Rest.
All of these customizations are offered by us @Keyboard Kulture for those interested.

Thank you all for the support so far, you guys rock, and thanks for being interested in what I actually do and offer :D :D :D

can anyone assist me in finding a 22key board? a friends birthday is coming up and he really likes using the numpad. I wanted to build/ get one for him as a gift but cant find anywhere with reasonable prices.

not one of those asus claymore ones, they don't look so great visually.

Finally got our Keychron K8s in. Sadly, it looks like this is the only batch/model we'll be receiving. The other models will be Takealot exclusive. Sadge

** Edit - you're also welcome to message me on you know, "forum member pricing".

Those caps are insane! HK is such a nice keycap manufacturer. Don't sleep on them while they're still cheap.
Did you get a warped spacebar?
I'm honestly really taken aback at the quality of this set for what I paid. Would definitely recommend it to newcomers and enthusiasts. The sound and feel is amazing!

But yes, it seems like I got a little bit of warping. Gonna tinker with it this evening - they recommend soaking it in warm water I believe but I'll need to brush up on the actual steps

and I just had to go and spend about R1500+ on a keypad thing for those dedicated arrows :(

I've found that the best option is to use a hairdryer and 1-2 clamps on a granite countertop.

Got a bit bored so putting togetehr another one today. I have been looking for a build to permanently take these Miami keycaps. i think this is it! thanks @ctrlshiftesc_za !

Also after fiddling with the switch samplerI decided on gateron blacks. I already have a few in gat/Cher brown, Cher red, Cher green, and NK cream. I cannot deal with tactiles though, not for how I type.

Totally in the market for any more niche-ish keyboard stuff. A 60% resin case I am in dire need of!

Anyone know where I can get a switch puller and a keycap puller?

So @Cujo26 though someone here might have a answer for me, basically I'm trying to find a substitute for Nyogel 767a, something that's available in SA. Some kind of dampening grease. See this thread for the full story.
Here we go:

Used it on my Throttle and Stick and it takes the feel from good to sublimely premium!!!
No more micro stutter or sticking, and the faster you move, the more it resists!!
Magic stuff!!!

I know nothing about keyboards and I figure this is the best place to post for advice/knowledge/wisdom/rants.

Looking for a keyboard. The idea of brown switches appeals to me (read a tomsguide article). I'm definitely a full size or 89 key kinda guy - use the numpad all the time.

I'm looking at 2 options at the moment (not looking to spend too much). Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro L RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard — Cherry MX Brown
and

Any other recommendations? Thoughts? Musings?

Help.

Between those two, I would suggest the Coolermaster. Otherwise, if you want to play with different types of switches down the line, you can try importing a GMMK, those come in a full size variant

EDIT: Figured I should add this, but it's generally worth lubricating the stabilisers on those keyboards at some point if you feel comfortable trying to do so, they will otherwise rattle quite a lot
