Keyboard Nut Thread

No stress dude!

Looking forward to my goodies. Been in 20 different minds if that mouse is worth it.

I haven't used it personally, but going by my experience of all things Logitech, I'd say yes. My G102 has been a trooper. It recently got replaced by a G305 and G Pro Wireless but going by these, I'm pretty sure you'll love it

Without derailing too much. I currently use a wired G502 at home and a Master MX2 at work. So I'm all about that Logitech life already. I want to go full wireless at home by the end of the year, and this is the first step.

If you ever have more keyboard goodies that is not so common, feel free to post in this thread. Bound to get some eyes on it.

@Soul Assassin - Heya, these just arrived in the country, and supplier has dispatched them to us. I imagine they will arrive in the next 2 - 3 days

We have quite a few preorders on them, and they are moving pretty quickly

Price on them is R861
How do you place a pre order?

Keen to hear your thoughts regarding that thumb cluster when you receive your toys!
I'll be sure to share with the class! I might have enough parts left over to sell off at least most of another board, if anyone might be keen.

I'm getting a full case and some sandwich plates 3D printed to see which I prefer, if anyone is interested I can perhaps sell a nearly-full kit for the second board, should I not break anything in the build process

I'm sure someone will slurp it up. Will probably cover a large part of your investment as well.

I am currently researching how to make the teensy on my ergodox work over bluetooth. Yay me.

So an update on my side, seems my RK61 is lost in the mailing system.

Customs says its been sent to a Post Office, but can't tell me which one and none of the local ones or the tracking sites have any info on this thing.

At least Banggood refunded me the order, after waiting 71 days its the least they could do.

Oooo interesting. I need to ship my Nice!Nanos this side, very curious about other options though, because they cost me a fortune!
How dare you order those alone! Do you enjoy looking down on us mere mortals with our pro micros!

Keen to see how the nice! Nano's work out

I never heard about the nice! nano. That looks like the perfect alternative! I am now 'researching' how to get a HC05 to play nice. According to google it is a good place to start planning this.

I plan on making it 'dock' like, so an external unit that just plugs snugly into the Ergo.......... dox.

My thoughts exactly when I had a look at what they are....

That's super disappointing dude. Best we can hope for is that it still shows up randomly. Have you asked around at your local post? They leave that little slip and you need to collect, if that slip is not dropped..... OOF.

I pre-ordered months ago 😟

Shipping to SA was $50 from nice, so they're sitting at my shipping consolidator. If there's stock anywhere in the US, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to get them added on 😂

If you decide (and you are able) to get more, add one for me please.

Yeah, checking in with them every couple days and hoping for that slip to arrive telling me that something is waiting.

Hmmm, I like that website.

I'll have a browse. Are you doing the GP from KBDFans end of the month? I cant' remember who was organising it.
Yea, but I'm picking up a lot of components for a few custom corne builds and I really want USB C on my main driver so a few Elite C's aswell.

And yes I'm also organising the KBDFans group buy

Awesome stuff! I'll add my wants later today.

I'm having a really tough time deciding on a layout for my travel split ergo build. :(

I had it dialed down to an Iris, but the more I use my ergodox the more unsure I become.

Is it the thumb cluster? Have you seen SplitKB's latest offerings? Elora and Aysu

I'm a big fan of how Thomas treats both the pinky stagger and the thumb cluster - which strikes a great balance of ergo and functional.

Something closer to a Lily58 perhaps?

Are you going for a high profile or low profile?
Originally, I was sold on the Lily58. But then started leaning towards the Iris.

Normal, high profile.

The thumb cluster, and the bottom 'modifier' row. I use a lot of buttons one the bottom row with my left hand.

Yea it's a curious thing. More ergo often is not congruent with easier to use or better user experience. I firmly believe that our thumbs are wildly underused in traditional layouts, and many ergo layouts don't take advantage of their range of motion. Our fingers basically shift back and forwards easily, but our thumbs can confortably reach from our palms to over 90 degrees away - modifiers, enter, backspace, all great things to have at thumbs-reach.

I 100% agree that our thumbs are not used nearly as much as they should be.

Before I went ergo my thumb was used for spacebar, and spacebar alone.

I now use my left thumb for space, backspace, option (alt for you peasants) and meta. My right thumb is only used for enter at the moment. I've used this layout for over a year without changing anything. Which was a mistake, because now I am complacent and not keen to change. Maybe a keyboard forcing me to adjust and change things up again is not such a bad idea.

#ColemakMasterRace! I'm really frustrated on a traditional keeb atm. I started learning colemak, but decided to stick to qwerty on traditional layouts and save colemak for an ergo, in hopes of not ruining muscle memory

After my prototype print, this is how I currently have my layout setup. Clearly I don't believe fewer keys are better

How comfortable do you feel hitting the 1Us on your thumb cluster? That has always seemed a little challenging for me 🤔

I'm pretty decent with my thumb. I tried wording that differently, but it is what it is. xD

I'm invoking the powers of Carb and the keeb community...

I have a Redragon K530 on order, and only realised earlier today that the hot swop sockets are Otemu sockets. Therefore, stock Cherry/Gateron/Kailh switches will not fit into the sockets, unless you file down their pins.

I am looking for an example of someone who has done this. I want to see just by how much I would need to file down the contact pins in order to fit the otemu sockets, and still function properly. I am nervous about ruining a perfectly good switch set.

The main reason I am buying this board is for the bluetooth capabilities, but also to test new switches in a standard layout form factor. I don't foresee myself trying ALL my switches in this board, but definitely some of them. I might add a set of Gateron Yellows to the group buy and try filing them down? Thoughts?

I found the following thread, and already messaged the user. Hopefully he has an answer about the effort required;
