Please give all of your lights a check over every 2 weeks. So many cars on the road that don't have brake lights working, this also includes indicators.

Gosh darn it, it aint difficult.

/rant on

And the people that drive with their fog lights on when there is clearly no fog. GFYS.

/rant off

Also... check your disk to see if your vehicle license has expired.

Sound advice, only realized mine expired 2 months ago after I got the R1500 fine tucked under my wiper blade

Never mind those brake lights....some motorists in this country happily drive along with just one working headlamp or sometimes even none. Also apparently I'm wrong with my sun-gone-lights-on rule, apparently you're only supposed turn headlamps on around 9 in the evening or so if I go by what I see during rush-hour traffic in winter when it's super dark outside already.

By law its 18:00, despite the region or season.

Here in Limpopo, if me and my wife drive home at night and see some oncoming traffic with only one headlight we will be like: "So motorcycle or car?"
98% of the time, its a car, and even scarier 20% of the time a truck!

The most irritating is guys who drive with the rear fog lamps on in no fog

I'm on my way to natal from jhb atm (No I'm not driving) I'll give a count on how many trucks drives without lights at the backnof the truck and front.

One day I counted 11... It's scary

It could be me, But I have noticed that there are a lot of vehicles driving around with their hazards on.
I don't understand why though, They are not smoking, they seem to be able to stop and their tyres seem okay. What they do is just go as they please, Jump lights, cut infront of people.
Is this a new rule or something that was made that I'm not aware of?

According to my dad (who is a cop) your lights are always meant to be on, sunshine or not, no matter the time of the day.
Last time I checked, it is only needed when visibility is less than 150m - except on the highway, where it is better to always have it on.

I am just stating what I was told my an actual police officer.

The K53 learners book says;

LIGHTS
  1. In case of poor visibility, where objects are not clearly visible for at least 150m, switch your headlights on.
  2. Headlights on a motorcycle must be on at all times when driving on public roads, even during the day the headlights must be switched on.
  3. Lights must be switched on when driving between sunset and sunrise. The beam must shine on objects at least 100m ahead of you.
I'd rather have them on if you can, can never be too safe

I don't want to rain on your parade but an actual officer told me that lane splitting is illegal and attempted to try impound my motorcycle.
I quickly got a lawyer to come with the proof that lane splitting is in fact legal, I couldn't afford to lose my bike at that time. The cop backed off immediately. It didn't come across as he was trying to be malicious, he truly stood by that I was in the wrong and lane splitting was illegal.

and as far as I know, That is the reason for daylight running LEDs and stuff on new cars nowadays and bikes don't have an option to turn off your headlights.
I'm sure there is something correct with that "headlights must be on" statement.
