Does anyone know why the cars in JHB are much cheaper than the cars down here in Cape Town?

Im looking at getting a 2nd hand SUV, and Im struggling to find anything close to the prices I see in JHB. Are the cars not looked after?
They say I can get the car delivered for R4500. But that still doesnt help since I cant see the car myself in person.

Does anyone here work for webuycars.co.za or a dealer in jhb I can trust?

Cause JHB is the hub of everything , webuycars has put up a massive new showroom take note vehicles sold voetstoets ---

I'v heard that higher salaries make cars more disposable, hence the price. Also check CPA for what recourse you are allowed, as voetstoots does not apply anymore.

I would not necessarily say that's true. Mileage condition plays a big part in the price of a car. There also would be a greater selection of specific models in JHB

I'm no mechanic but I would be happy to scout one or two cars for you send a video if I'm around any dealers ... I'm usually all over the place ...

Sounds like you just want to drive them lol.

"Yeah, my buddy is looking for an SUV. I'm gonna need to test drive that Merc."

lol, "Its R1.4m for this vehicle sir" you, "And?"

realkingkam, I appreciate the offer, but I cant expect you to drive around, driving other cars for me. Webuycars.co.za has some really well priced cars for sale. Im looking at the Hyandai ix35, Nissan Quashqua and Renault Duster.

Out of the lot of cars mentioned I would stick to the Hyundai ix35...

Also offering to have a look at the car for you if you find one you like

We buy cars sell as "wholesale", no CPA as a result. Not worth it imo

I personally think it's because there's a large supply of all vehicles. If you look at annual stats, most of the new cars are bought in Gauteng, which stands to reason why there would always be a large supply of used cars. Competition drives down prices.

Its because JHB cars have bad body work and mechanical work done to them.

no way the below car is right? At that price I would fly up and drive it back to CT

loads of shady dealers in jhb too. if buying from a distance, make sure to buy from a reputable branded dealership which is part of a large group, eg. ford approved, toyota automark etc. otherwise, don't risk your money. some ads are just click bait too. u say u interested, oh I'm sorry, THAT car just got sold, buuuuuuut we have a more expensive older model with higher mileage for you :).

Please look at HJellopeter regarding webuycars. I went to look at 3 cars there on 3 different occasions.. Shady as shit...
Yes, webuycars is definitely a bit shady. have been to look at a few cars there and non of them have been in good condition upon closer inspection.

Sorry I have one arm at the moment so my answers are short.
I don't like the way the do business, the way they sell cars is to word the contract as a commercial contract ie. that you are buying to resell.
This is to bypass the Consumer Protection Act...this alone puts me off any company. In fact they normaly respond that the buyer was conned by the previous owner.
If you finance they insist on adding a motor warranty as they have 0 after sales service as a normal dealer is obliged to effect.
If you want a car I dont think its advisable to ask someone to go look at the car for you. Rather go with a knowledgeable person and look at a car you would like to buy
I have looked at a X3 which looked nice on one side in the pics the other side not so nice.
I also look at a Audi A4 with a velvet interior??? It was in fantastic shape but its engine was vrot Drove like and smelt like the injectors were gone. R30k repairs at least.
Then the X5's that would not start. After a hour they said not for sale. A day later they were on website discounted further...

I appreciate your warning, and I think you have a point.

Im going to rather buy a local car at a dealer I trust.

One of my colleagues did some shopping at We Sell Cars. He said none of them lived up to the photo's. Some of them he looked at on the web was not even derivable.

I think it's just a market factor.

People up there drive more cars more regularly...as you they trade them in earlier and you get lower mileage better cars.

From the selling point of view Jo'burg types are priced to sell that car must stand there for weeks on end. Cape Town logic again is to sell it for as much as possible regardless of how long it takes.

I bought my last bike in Nelspruit because even after the cost of flights and petrol to ride it down the deal was still massively better than anything in Cape Town.

I bought my car off Gumtree....R89k for a 3.0TDI.. R6800 for a set of 19" RS4 replicas with tyres thanks @ichigo

The mere fact that joburg sells anything and everything more in quantity stands for something , but yes go to a reputable dealer :)

In Jo'burg?

I technically bought my bike off Auto Trader but it ended up being facilitated by a dealership somewhat purely for logistical reasons.

Nope in Cape Town, Durbanville guy that left to drink Kiwi Kool Aid.

Aaah one of those bargains.

There are always bargains to be had when you aren't forced to buy in a timely fashion and have the patience to wait.

Even with dealers if you have the ability to say no and walk away from a deal you'll be amazed what happens.

Same experience as I have had.
