So to set the scene, i have 40mb/20mb fiber, i live with a roommate he has a PC and i have 2, now my 2 PC go into a HUB then the hub is connected to the Router, my roommate is connected directly to the router. i dial up to my accounts with a PPPoE connection (router is in Half bridged mode)

Now the issue:
On sites mainly twitch i am Unable to watch 720p streams without constant buffering while he can with without issue. Both my PCs have the same issue.

  1. Thinks i have tried:
    - Different browser on both PCs
  2. - Removed HUB and connected directly to the Router (both PCs)
  3. - New LAN cable
    - Connected to the same ISP
  4. - tested tracert both are using the same routes
  5. - Formatted PC
  6. - Updated one PCs Windows (he was using creators update both my PCs weren't)

  7. Honestly i am lost for ideas and am even willing to offer a reward for anyone that can help me fix this issue

Hi,

Try the following;
1. If you are using Chrome, test it without hardware acceleration. I've had this problem on Chrome and resolved it for me.
2. Force your DNS to another server. Try using 8.8.8.8 as your DNS server and then either restart your system or flush your DNS.
3. Doubt this would be the problem, but check QoS rules and "limitations" on the router.

Lastly, just check if the quality is 720p60 or 720p. If the former, swop it to 720p.

1. I have tried that forgot to list it
2. Tried this now no luck
3. I`ve removed all QoS on the router
4. You maybe only something there as it seems 720p runs fine for me, but still the question is why can he run 720p/60fps and i cant ?

I used to have the same problem, got the "twitch 5" extension and havent looked back, looks like it just forces html 5 playback. It was removed but has since been relaunched as Alternate Player for Twitch.tv .

From what I remember (came across this issue more than 2 years ago) was that it was with Twitch propagation on their network and how streamers and viewers are handled (something along those lines). At the time I couldn't find any solution apart from a third party twitch player.

As FlashFire suggested, try Alternate Player for Twitch.tv or TMPlayer.
