Hello All,

I have been looking around at some courses, mainly on Udemy. Essentially looking at getting a system admin cert as that seems to be a good starting point. I am mostly interested in Linux admin but not closed off to anything windows related.

If someone has advice on things to look out for/good things to have under your belt then I'm open ears.
I'll mostly be looking to pair this up with learning JS and some node learning and possibly data science/structuring (if they are at all related)
As said above, I'm leaning towards system admin/maintenance to begin with and get accustomed to the systems/languages.

My one big gripe approaching this stuff before was that I didn't have projects to practice on and struggled to find avenues to develop any which felt like a big hinderance for me to keep momentum, so project based work will be a big plus. If anyone has any pointers/places, even Discord groups where there are people looking for projects built, something like passion projects as I am relatively un-resourceful with starting out in this sector.

Much Appreciated in advance huumans,
Thank you with a kissy emote :*

I required a bit of linux administration for my job, and taught myself by doing.

I installed CentOs and Ubuntu and started installing random software. I literally googled open source enterprise software and started installing them and making sure they work properly through nginx or what have you. This got me comfortable with the terminal and where everything is on linux etc. This was a good 10 years ago though.

Good luck, and have fun! Enjoy the late nights.
