Is it possible for vrm temps to hit 760°C ? Been monitoring my temps a lot these days while waiting for my replacement AIO. That was a shocker to notice :O

Considering that plastic melts at around 170-180 degrees pretty sure that is not possible :p Unless your gpu has turned into liquid and slid out your PC.

Is there GPU software you can use to check the temp?

Haha luckily it's still intact ;)

Like MSI Afterburner? Or what do you suggest?

Well what brand card is it?

Im not sure if the Vega64 has a VRM temp sensor on it or not which is maybe why the reading is wacko

It's an asus vega 64 strix oc gaming - I know the vrm temps is crazy on them due to shitty design, i have some thermal pads otw to fix that issue, but it never exceeds 108°C in games.
This 760°C made me think it must be a faulty reading since it was 2min from startup.

Never exceeds 108C in games? Damn, son! That's already plenty too toasty. Probably hitting some hectic thermal throttling. Wasn't 104C the limit for GPUs since way back?

Haha never mind plastic, aluminium melts at less than 760

I use Asus GPU Tweak 2 to monitor my temps. I cant remember now if it detects VRM temps though.

Are the VRMs really that bad on the strix? wow 108 is hectic

A quick google indicated a max of 125 C for the VRMs. The GPU itself is most likely close to a 100 C.
But as OP mentioned, the GPU isn't a problem at all, and you can see it at 25 C in the pic.

No idea about the limit, but i do know its a lot hotter than most cards. I bought some arctic thermal pads from pclinkshop. Been waiting a week now for delivery though : /.

It is horrible, the net is full of posts regarding this and asus couldn't care less. So there is a lot of guides on how to bring down the vrm temps.
Going to download Asus Tweak and keep it opened alongside HWMonitor.

Oh duh. I was thinking whole GPU, not just the VRMs.
But yeah, to be hitting 108C the GPU itself can't be too far behind. Which is concerning.

Actually double monitoring is a good way to get glitches like the one that started this thread.

Shot guys, going to start double monitoring from now, and see if i get any more thermal anomalies.

Those Strix fans again... tisk tisk. The spinning kind and the cudding kind

Maybe it's practicing for when you replace that Vega with a 5700XT? I hear they make Fermi look frigid reminding of the old 2900XTX
